I just put my Vitara z6 in my car and I am breaking it in N/A. I wanted to save up some money and buy a bigger turbo than what I have now.

This is what I have, Saab .42/.48 paid $50 from the junkyard.



This is the set up, but now its a Vitara Z6.









How much boost can I run on this turbo for now? I won't have the $$$ for a bigger turbo for a few monthes and would like to put my set up back on my car.

As much as the worm gear clamps can take.

 

From my experience, they will live quite well up to 28-30psi, past that and your own borrowed time till the turbine wheel is ---- out the down pipe.

 

Those 440s might hold you back more than that turbo...

Go in and enter all your info. I ran it and you have to play with the engins ve but it looks like you are hitting the top of the t3 50trim map at about 7000rpms, and 18lbs. It just will get you in the ball park anyway.

 

id run 15psi and check your datalogs for how much hotter than ambient temps your running if heat skyrockets bring it down some but 15 should be good my buddy was runing 17 on his built gsr with one of those didnt like the 8k limit to much though.

 

i ran one of these turbos on a hmt setup with 440cc on a stock z6 tuned on crome at 10psi. it made about 190hp at 6000rpm on the 4th pull on the dyno while it was being tuned . AND THEN my valve seals went out and oil poured into the turbo from the bad seals (smoke everywhere) .. but tried makeing a hmt boost controller one time and hit over 15psi more then a few times while adjusting it to 10psi... hope this helps some

 

Id go anywhere from 15-20 on it. Watch your iat's above 15.

 

well considering its a 240hp turbo I'd say 15, and btw I would break some of it in N/A but I would break the rest of it with the turbo, heard it seats the rings better

 

if your boosting, break it in boosting it... tuned ofcourse..

Id run 18 ta 20 on it... i rocked 10psi on my stock from a bigger turbo.. like said earlier monitor the iat, make sure your noth breathing fire down the intake.
