How heat resistant are silicone couplers?

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1...ture002dy7.jpg

This is what happens with an open dump onto a shitty Homeboydepot coupler. I went out and bought a silicone one to replace it, but I'm fabbing up my dumptube before I put it on.

As you can somewhat discern from the picture, space is a little tight. My ext. WG is point at a 45 degree angle towards that coupler, and the best I can do is have the dumptube rest on the coupler.

I'm curious as to whether or not anybody's dealt with an issue like this, or if anyone has any suggestions.

The silicone coupler should have much better heat resistand than the home chepot coupler. If the dump tube needs to touch the coupler i'd recomend some type of insulation.

1.that fiberglass exhaust wrap stuff...a couple layers of that will reduce heat on the coupler.

2. maybe some kind of reflective pipe wrap.

Yeah, when I made the post I wasn't thinking about wrapping the dump itself. I have some spare heat wrap in the basement, I think I'm just gonna wrap it and go.

the CDM couplers i work with can hold up to 300degree of radian heat

Hmmm, with wrap I'm confident it'll be ok.

Thanks though, I checked vibrants website and they had nothing listed as far as temps go.

Why don't you just read?

I fixed it today. Wrapped the dump tube in heat wrap and clocked the compressor so it's not touching anything anymore. I've got about an inch of clearance between the tube and coupler, should be fine.

To4b turbo,

Update!

At the Junk yard we found a TO4b, brand new :D,
The A/R written on it were, 60 A/R Intake , 1.03 A/R ExHaust,
We dont know where did he get it but he is asking 250$ for it,
Dose it worth it, will need a External Waste Gate,

Needs your suggestion on it,

Thanks

Salman
