How far can I tilt a turbo sideways?

I'm having some clearance problems and am thinking about tilting the turbo SIDEWAYS. When I say SIDEWAYS, I am talking about having the left side lower than the right, or the compressor lower than the exhaust housing. Are you getting me? It's only going to be about a 10 degree tilt, but it's gonna make the oil pool a little more on one side of the bearing housing than the other.

Has anyone got anything to say about this? Has anyone done it before?

Whitey has got a twin turbo D series and they are set on angles. He's got a little smoking for now but it works.

the oil in the center housing is pressureized...i dont really think there will be a problem...

I don't see a clear consensus.

Is it OK to have ANY angle/orientation of a turbo, or should the shaft be kept horizontal?

I have my top turbo tilted at a 15 degree angle towards the compressor and thats fine. The bottom turbo is tilted at a 34 degree angle. I'm having a problem with smoking but I'm not sure if its from the angles or bad seals or something is loose.

The car doesn't smoke at all out the exhaust its something underneath the hood.

oil dripping on the manifold somewhere?

first it was the oil pressure and it was leaking from the top turbo onto the manifold. I decreased the pressure, the top turbo stopped leaking but it still smokes from the bottom. Its dripping enough oil that makes me think that the oil feed might be a little loose, unless a bad seal could leak enough to leave a small puddle of oil on the floor.

Even though it's pressurized, the drain is only gravity fed, right? If not, there still must be a point where the oil would passing through the seals, right?
