Re: how do u guys do it?

CX/HF manifold, adapter, used .63/.60 T3, homeboy depot oil lines, JRC FMIC, Xenocron chipped ECU, 450cc injectors should keep you well under $1000.

Ah mine is for D series

Re: how do u guys do it?

by a b series flange, and weld up ur own log man, go to a junkyard and get a turbo off something about the same size, 450cc injectors go for like 40 bucks, a 1g dsm bov goes for 40 bucks, while ur at the junkyard find a sidemount off a turbo car, and the rest like oil lines and resistors boxes are cheap, find a big junk yard near you, there are tongs of cars in canada that still have turbos sitting in them :y

90dx 06-02-2006 11:43 PM

Re: how do u guys do it?

Sure you can do it for $12 or whatever but it will be gettho and probably unreliable.I like home made but I just cant bring myself to do gettho.$1000 should be able to do a decent kit just need to find a used turbo and a cheap manifold. The rest can be bought for cheap from r ebay ---- like blow off, intercooler etc.Keep cruising the classifieds on here and ebay to find deals. Can you weld at least the chargepipes? You need a wire feed and at least more skill then a bag of autistic babies to do those welds. For silicone, oil lines etc just hit up local industrial hose/hydrualic shops etc.

Re: how do u guys do it?

You have to have the ability to fabricate everything that you don't want to buy. If you don't weld, add $400 and a punch in the face. The first kit is never your cheapest because you second guess how cheap you can actually do it.

Ghetto isn't the parts, it's the assembly of the parts- quote that one. ;)

Re: how do u guys do it?

So far my kit has cost:

new log manifold, used downpipe, slightly used .42/.48 t3, oil feed line - $285

dsm bov, dsm 450s - $80

new fmic, new charge piping/clamps - $200

Spent $565 so far but don't need too much more.

We checked all the big junkyards around here and you're lucky to find anything...

tell me about it man. I wasn't doing any ghetto ---- either, but damn. Everytime I tallied up my stuff, it came out to like 2k. I can't weld any of it, I don't have a welder, and I was almost buying everything new. Can you still call it homemade?

Not so Homemade... but I'm doing the same thing :P

I don't know how to weld (nor own a welder).... nor do I have any good tools, so I can't really fab anything myself.

I find the little stuff adds up quick like- paint,t bolt clamps, wire, gaskets etc.

Re: how do u guys do it?

the homemade part, I think, comes in the creativity of making something fit/work that wouldn't normally fit/work at any cost, and there have been some creative solutions here.

I love how you spent as much on your CATCH CAN as you did on your turbo... just seems weird, lol.
