How do I control Boost level on an internal wastegated turbo?

How does this work. WIth external I guess you get an adjustable wastegate, but how to you change the one built into the turbo.

With a hammer to the actuator rod or a boost controller

so a mbc is a needed component for a diy system. Which brand is good and cheap for these

no wastegates/actuators set boost to a perdetermined level usually 8psi. To raise it over that mark you need a boost controller

ok. That makes sense, are most of them 8 psi or do they vary depending on the turbo used?

vary with each turbo

bend the rod makes it shorter and lowers boost. drop a boost controller in there if you want to raise it.

NO...

The length of the actuator arm is inversly proportional to the amount of boost you will see. Increase the length to lower the boost, decrease the length to raise the boost. Look in the FAQ for ways to lengthen the arm, get a boost controller if you want to raise the boost past "stock" levels.
