how to connect auto meter boost vacuum hose?? *UPDATED AGAIN WITH INSTALL !!*

NEW PICS AT BOTTOM....

how the hell do you connect the supplied end that auto meter gives you for a boost gauge to a regular vacumm line or reg t?? it's a brass fitting and i have it kind of connected to a universal 'trim to fit' t and sealed with duct tape :P

that's funny as ---- that you say that because thats' the same thing I did. It's such a ------- pain in the ass, they were so dumb when they came up with this.

Re:how to connect auto meter boost vacuum hose??

I'm also having the same problem. I was thinking about t-ing the fuel pressure regulator line, then use a little piece of hose and slide it over the boost gauge line and zip tying over it.

yeah, i was kind of thinking the same thing, like get some thick vacuum hose like used on the brake booster, but that's still ghetto to me, auto meter sucks my ass.......

I made a T with brass fittings from Homedepot, One to screw in the line from the gauge, and 2 sides with barb fittings to connect the vacuum

Go to pep boys or advanced auto, they have a little adapter that you can buy. It's a little black rubber thing thats in the same section where you got your tee. It's just a little black rubber piece that you stick the vaccum line in and connect the other end to the tee. You just throw away that brass ----.

really? you it adapts that think clear vacuum hose to a regular t? i'll have to look for that as well, hell, either one is better than the duct tape, i can't believe that ----'s not leaking ???

I did the same thing, but damn was it ugly. That ---- is way bigger than it needs to be. :-\

If Pep boys or Auto Zone sells an actual fitting that connects direct, I would go for that. That brass setup is ghetto and I know you don't want any ghetto styles under your hood. ;)

on the back of my z6 intake manifold, i had an extra vacuum port for the purge solenoid, and i just put a piece of extra large ricer vacuum hose on it, and the plastic flex-o-hose that came with my boost gauge fit right inside of it. I'm boosting psi and it hasnt shot out or anything

;)

just get a rubber line and stick the plastic line in it and wrap some black tape around it so it dont leak

yall nigas dumb!

All you need is a 1/8 female barb fitting.Screw the female barb to the end of the suplied threaded connector and use a piece of ruber vacume hose to go from the t to the brass barb.thast what I did and it looks clean.

I swear I tried that, but it didn't work. ??? If my attention span lets me walk myself through those instructions I'll give it another shot. :P

that's what i did and it works fine. the t was the perfect size for the nylon tube to slide into and then the rubber hose is zip tied to the nylon tube to keep it from popping out.

Re:how to connect auto meter boost vacuum hose??

aha! all of you are dumb asses including me (except for 90acrex1), this is what you need, it has a very small opening in one end for the supplied hard vacuum line from your boost gauge, like he said, you totally ditch the brass fitting in the engine bay and slide the hose right into this, the other end is big enough for a regular size t! it's called a 'soft vacuum connector' and the size i have pictured is perfect!

Do they have that ---- at autozone? Or do they even know what they are? I might have to check it out. Because mine is hella ghetto with bunch of electrical tape wrap around my vacuum hose to my intake manifold nipple. Thanks for the heads up. And how much did the soft vacuum connector cost?

yeah, i got it at advance auto parts, but i'm sure they have it at auto zone or anywhere, it's in the same section where the t's and all the other vacuum connectors/lines are. it was like 2 bucks.

Looks good, My homodepot fitting thingy doesnt look like that other one, is much smaller and the Tee is round not square, makes it look better, but I did spend like $5 to do it. Damn......Now I know for the next gauge install, WRX.........

I ditched the nylon line entirely and used 1/8" barbs and Teed the FPR line with a plastic 1/8" Tee. I also used rubber vacuum line from the gauge to the T.

Re:how to connect auto meter boost vacuum hose?? *UPDATED W/ SOLUTION!!*

the best thing i saw was on a jrsc setup. it was what i guess would be called a mini-barb.it had just the right size barb on it to fit the boost guage line. anouther thing that should work(havent tried it yet,but should work) is these t's that are 1/4 " in and out but have a 1/8 "barb fitting on them. so u should be able to t into ur vac hoses and then go right into ur boost guage line.

Re:how to connect auto meter boost vacuum hose?? *UPDATED W/ SOLUTION!!*

omg you guys are putting too much thought into this (and money)...

the solution: take a 3inch or so piece of vacuum hose (can be stolen from the purge valves cuz you disconnected them anyway, right? :P) and your little nylon hose from the gauge...and stick the nylon hose INTO the rubber vacumm hose!!!! now stick it somewhere on the intake manifold or T... as an added precoution i like to put super glue on the nylon thing then stick it into the rubber vacuum hose...... you guys need pics of this write up :-*

the hose that is supplied is too small to seal inside of vacuum hose ;)

i got it from advance auto parts, but i'm sure it's at any auto parts store, refer to reply #17 for the exact size, it's a 'soft vacuum connector'

cool im gonna go pick one up. id rather use that than a huge ass brass fitting. looks 10 times better.

yeah, so you have to buy the smallest vacuum hose you can find, vacuum hose = 3.00, then you have to buy a t with one small nipple (to connect to the small vacuum hose0 and two regular size (to t in to your regular vacuum line) because the vacuum hose that was small enough to stick the clear vacuum line in is too small to fit on a nipple on you i.m. = 2.00 for a total of 3.00 dollars more and more mess than a one piece simple solution. trust me, i stood in the 'vacuum hose/fittings' section for a while trying to figure out every possible way to do this, and this is the cheapest, easiest, solution, IMO anyways :-\

went to napa with the nylon wire and they made it so that hte nylon went inside of the hose and then sold the hose by the foot.. its easy to find.

Re:how to connect auto meter boost vacuum hose?? *UPDATED AGAIN WITH INSTALL !!*

I never ever use the nylon bullshit that autometer supplies. That ---- sucks. One crimp and it's fucked. I always just buy vacumm hose and do it with that. They do make different T's too. I got one from autozone that had to bigger ends (for your stock line) and one small one off the side. (for the gauge). I like the way it finally came out, but I still hate that nylon ----. I wish they would just stop putting it in with thier gauges. :P
