How accurate is the standard temp gauge

Just wondering how accurate the standard temp gauge is.. the on the dash board.. my cars a b16a running a d15b radiator(half size) and it can idle for ages without the temp going up with no fan.. infact ive never seen it get above operational temp.. its running a t25 turbo etc.. im thinking of getting a proper water temp guage, but where the best place to tap it?

isnt it amazing how cool hondas run ;) They are pretty accurate and I wouldnt even worry about it. If you are and have doubts, get a big chunk of cardboard and stuff it in front of your radiator and just go for a drive. It will raise up in no time.

i've found factory temp gauges to typically be pretty acurate.. hmm the sensors are located on the head usually, I could tell you exactly where to look on a chevy small block or a volvo B23x series.
