hood insulation
Geigh question, yes I know:
Recommend good hood insulation for a turbo application. I've got a top mount and junk gets hot. |
Re: hood insulation
One of my friends has a corado g60, the charger sits pretty close to the hood and they insulated it from the factory, maybe its a good idea but then again its a VW and could light on fire at any time without warning.

Re: hood insulation
Try a heat shield cover over the turbine housing, and check out Summit's catalog...I'm pretty sure they have some sort of heat shield material that lays down like dynamat but without the sticky tar mess.

Re: hood insulation
Something like dynomat would be great.. I just need something that's been proven for turbo use. I don't want a fire.
May do a heat shield on the turbo - that's another good idea. Saw the post with a heat shield made out of a pot.. turned out great. |

Re: hood insulation
Be careful...there are a few Spec V's out there that have caught fire shortly(as in after an hour or so) after being boosted because of that insulation...I know, I know, it's supposed to PREVENT a fire, but it will light up...Our cars run topmount setups and the heat from the exhaust housing blaze that insulation up...
