homemade oil line?

alright,I gotta thought,
will one of them oil pressure gauge hoses work for a turbo feed?
(them hard plastic like hoses with adapters at autozone)

I mean, its small enough to act as a restrictor & all I would really need is just adapters to adapt to the turbo..

any input?

Re: homemade oil line?

Probably work. But you would probably have to route it so it wouldn't get too hot. They are pretty fragile. I dont think i would ever rock one, some stuff you shouldn't go too cheap on.

Just get some braided steel brake line and some an to npt adapters and make yourself an oil restrictor. Theres a sticky about making them somewhere around here.

yea...i need to do somthin & I might go with the oil pressure line,
because,I dont see myslef spending 100$ on some oil lines to see weather they fit my turbo or not,
I have a td04h 13c

oil pressure lines I might go with,

Wow, I got my 48" -3an lines 'made' for under $16 each. They have the -3an female flare ends in brass, and the line is braided stainless with teflon liner. Mcmastercar.com You can be baller and spend more for stainless ends IIRC, but brass ftw. In fact, I could undercut stealthmode by half while offer better drain lines and supply line fittings (brass vs rustable plated steel). But I don't have his credibility, I'm just some street nig-nog.

BTW I get them in under 48 hours, since I'm a stone's throw from their 'Ill-noise' location. :y

I'm going to rock 1/8 NPT Brass fittings with hose barbs, and some Summit racing twist tite hose. like the areoquip stuff but a little cheaper. I threw in a 1/8NPT ballvalve for an adjustable restrictor too, the whole setup cost me around $35. $45 with my Wal-Mart Eqquis oil pressure gauge which actually comes with a BSPT to 1/8NPT block fitting!!!

McMaster lines for me. Cheap and effective.

Get the smallest hard brakelines you can find at your local autoparts store. They bend by hand. Going into the turbo if you find a fitting going from brakeline end to ntp, lots of times, there is a nice restriction built right in. Worked for me.

Re: homemade oil line?

instead of the plastic line, they make hard line for gauges as well and this is available at any autoparts store. I, personally, wouldn't skimp on something thats already fairly cheap

I welcome the challenge. You wouldn't be the first to think you can, but you'd be the first to actually try it.

The key word would be "half". You'd have to have way too much money to lose on every sale and alot of hatred towards me to want to waste that kind of money.

Now, I could definately be undersold. It would take buying every piece in bulk right off the bat, finding great suppliers the first time, shipping tons of product and answering lots of emails, all while being paid less than the bun toaster at McDonalds. It could happen, but I've never met anyone that dumb with a couple thousand dollars willing to try it. ;D

Re: homemade oil line?

Lol, I wasn't saying I could do it. I guess I meant more in terms of me buying parts for me, I just didn't tally up the costs for the fittings, since I didn't exactly use the same setup. I didn't mean to start any fires :P I also know that a business has to make money, has overhead costs, etc - there's a reason companys have a rather large markup, yet don't make huge profits. And to be totally honest, I still have all my other 'get rich quick' schemes to iron out first. >:D

Its just another something to save money on for the DIY'ers.

E-b0la: are you saying you got a cheap gauge and bspt/npt fitting at walmart? Was it from one of the super-walmarts?

I didn't take offense. Send some of those get rich quick schemes my way. >:D

if you want all the pieces u need in a nice hard to mess up kit go stealthmode

if you want to piece together your own same quality kit with firewall T and get a nice gauge out of it for the same price go mcmaster $35 lines/ebay drain $13 /local auto parts store equus gauge with block fitting $18
