homemade liquid intercooler sertup
I was thinking about my setup.
I was planning on the water route to go like this resivour->pump->intercooler->heat exchange->return I was thinking about doing this since my main goal will be to drop the temps at the track with dry ice or co2. If I went like: resivour->pump->heat exchange->intercooler->return wouldnt I loose some of the chill in the heat exchange? Nick |

change of plans someone said on ht "Pulling the heat from something is always more efficient, than pushing the cold onto a heat source"
resivour->intercooler->pump->heat exchange->return Nick |
Re:homemade liquid intercooler sertup
I don't know much about air to water intercoolers, but couldn't you just build a box around a regular intercooler, then splice into the cooling system to get your water. So that you wouldn't have all this extra equipment?

Re:homemade liquid intercooler sertup
thats not such a good idea about splicing into the cooling system.

resivour->intercooler->pump->heat exchange->return Nick Heat only flows in one direction. Its the second law of thermodynamics. Your basically talking about a heat exchanger. A heat exchanger is an intercooler. You want the water to cool off the air, than the water carries the heat away from the air. If you want to know how to do it right and your good at math here's the continuity equations to figure out the mass flow rate of the cooling water required and the heat transfer to the water: Mass flow rate = (h4-h3)/(h1-h2) where H1= water comming in H2= water comming out H3= air comming in H4= air comming out. (H is the enthalpy value of water) Than the heat transfer would be Mass flow rate x (H4-H3) so get some gauges, find out the information about how much heat your working with, than figure out how much heat you want to take away. I hope this helps |

Re:homemade liquid intercooler sertup
d15b completely stock, from the flywheel to the throttle body. I have a td04 turbo + DSM injectors and DSM intercooler(working on change that) with uberdata for fuel management, oh yea and I have a walbro fuel pump. I'm going to post some picts tonight of the before and after.
