Homemade ITB set up questions?

HI. Im lovin the home made ITB set up. my concern is how the hell do you mount the air/temp sensor?? Also im wondering how hard it is to tune the itbs?? I have a mugen chipped ecu. Will a apexi afc be sufficent or will i have to buy a hondata?? by the way its going to be on a b16 gen 1. 4-1 header, 2.5" exhaust. soon to have ctr cams. but basically stock. Im just wondering what else would i need to run the itbs daily driven. Also do you need the vaccum canister for the brake booster?? man i so much want this set up but i want to make sure i dont run it to crazy problems. any suggestions and help would be appreacited thanks. j

Honda-Tech actually has alot of information about this setup. And as for tuning if you get ITB's off a honda the TPS will be plug and play which would save you alot of trouble.

If this was a more home made related issue utilizing uberdata then I think we could be of better service. Have you checked with the manufactures of the aftermarket products that you have purchased? Train tech support for products that you have paid top dollar for should be your first step.

why is this in the forced induction forum? ::)

as for the IAT and IACV, zip tie those fuckers to the brake lines on the firewall, they will be fine there and wont throw codes (as long as there plugged in). tuning them should be just like tuning anything else...you need a WB and/or dyno time. you will probly be fine with a VAFC.. Hondata is a lot of money for what UberData gives you for free... as for the brake booster..i would JBweld a fitting into one of the injector holes in the TB's...

i really dont think this is a bolt on modification, there will be some fabrication, tuning, and down time with this. but when its setup there shouldnt be any reason why you couldnt have it as a daily driver...

We mostly run turbos on this site, all motor is an excuse and ITB's are just fancy noisemakers...

yeah sorry about that. I just went to the site and jeff completed his set. Im going to pretty much do the same as he did. im going to get the 01 gsxr itbs and cut my manifold. Then modify it like how jeff did. sorry about posting this in the wrong area. i totally forgot this is a turbo forum. I cant seem to find a lot of articles on honda-tech since that thing moves so dam fast. plus people have some much different set ups on there. i wanted the set up like jeffs. But yeah i know the hondata is hella expensive. Thats why i wanted to know if i could get away with the afc controller instead since my computer is chipped already. but i dont want to run lean. you guys think a chipped mugen ecu, apexi afc, and the aem WB would be sufficient enough to run it daily?? thanks guys for helping me. sorry to take your time. just wanted some good advice for once.!! thanks j

Man you are banned! you can't post about ITB's in the FI forum!!!! ;)

heh, check out this thread on honda-tech
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=775280

I think you are going to need something to control fuel at certain rpm's rather than a chipped ecu with a unknown program.

Good luck on your project and I'd like to see it when it is done.

Jeff
