just a random question....

but how effective are those "$4" boost controllers that are made from brass fittings, a spring, and a bearing??

Very effective.

The best 4$ you'll ever spend. Why people spend the money for a Turbosmart one I'll never understand...

They work great. I had to cut the spring a little to lower boost.

Don't you also have to drill a small bleed hole? If not after you get out of boost the pressure in the wastegate can has nowhere to go, and the agte can stay open.

If you don't drill the bleed hole, you'll hit your target boost, and then it will start to back down to whatever your wastegate spring is.

My buddy had a turbostupid and no matter what you did, it wouldn't go past 9psi. I pulled it off and installed a T with a valve to adjust bleed off and it worked great, consistant 12 psi. Its ghetto I guess but it seems to work. I've also done it to his mx6 and mine aswell as an accord.

Yes you just hook it up inline with the vac line to your WG actuator
