I love it! HMT is in the hizzle. I just took the turbo out of my civic yesterday and now my car is sooo slow. I envy you at the moment.

hah its all about home depot clamps .. until a few days ago i found that lowes has wayy more ---- and better clamps then home depot

You should really consider buying silicone couplers on ebay. In some cases it would be cheaper. I'd give you a few weeks and those home depot couplers would balloon and some cases slips off. I guess either way it did the job done. Just think long term. GL..!

+1. Give it 5 minutes. I have seen a build on the DSM forums where I guy went the Home Depot route and those couplings and they just split from the pressure and heat on one test run.

bulletproof1013 08-30-2009 05:52 PM

well its been a couple days now. (more than 5 mins) still running good.. I've used the clamps before never had a problem.. and yes I've considered the regular couplers but I wanted boost then not 2 weks from then.

esi42 08-31-2009 05:35 AM

Theyll be fine for low boost on the short term. I using 2 of them since its what I had at the time. No leaks, splits, or cracks at 10psi. I did weld a bead on the pipes though.

Hows the ebay cast mani treatin ya? Probably gonna switch out the cx mani for one here soon.

bulletproof1013 08-31-2009 10:53 AM

its hella good. never had any problems on the manny. i did have the other cheap ass manny but that ---- broke on the collector like 4 times so i got this one.i had this one like 2 yrs

boostedblake 08-31-2009 10:23 PM

Do those couplers expand when you hit boost?

vtech 08-31-2009 11:24 PM

yer they are fine on low boost 10 and under but ive seen alot baloon on like 14 on my friends old car we used the all the time

bulletproof1013 09-01-2009 06:21 AM

Im aure they do a little . hell idk .I don't see how I can check that

redline4 09-01-2009 11:49 AM

Creative..me like! I may have to look into when I got to work at the home depot today ;)

vtech 09-01-2009 02:39 PM

they are great to keep in your car on racenight incase you pop a coupler if anything els

burkej62 09-03-2009 11:16 PM

The heavy duty double worm clamps are tought as nails and cheap as a dead hooker but the rubber connectors are shitty

90CRXSiR 09-06-2009 10:11 PM

homedepot couplers suck for heat.

they get really shysty when heated and tend to rip.

JoshMO 09-08-2009 02:41 AM

I've had home depot couplers in my 8 psi setup for almost 2 years not a single issue out of them. Don't listen to the nay Sayers

The key is keeping the gap between the charge pipes small

rExin_you_out 09-09-2009 02:23 AM

i had endless problems with home depot couplers, trick is to make the the pipes line up perfect, no stress bending or pulling on the coupler and a nice amount of space between the pipes for flexing. no problems since.

tstyles06 09-09-2009 11:18 AM

damn i thought i was the only one who used home depot couplers, i know your tired of hearing it but yeah they won last long. at 8psi I was blowing them like twice a week , damn ebay shipping, boost is addictive!

LUDELVR 09-11-2009 05:15 PM

Yeah, I tried these out when I first started turboing cars and though they were a good solution but wow, ended up costing more to keep replacing them so I just opted for some silicone ones. I ended up just buying the silicone couplings (I actually think they are truck rad hoses) from the parts store and you can cut them to your desired length. Haven't blown one yet.

It's funny seeing those tihngs balloon out! haha, saw it on the dyno and was thinking "holy ----! She can't take much more captain!".

I reckon the further away from the compressor housing the longer it will last. I had a couple of 90 degree bends off of the intercooler and they lasted for a few weeks on an h22a with a t3/t4 on about 8 psi.
