Holset turbos.... h1c vs hx35

I'm looking for a turbo for a ka24de and I'm shooting for about 500hp.

I would prefer to put a hx35 on there, but they're kinda hard to find, where as the h1c is a lot more common.

I know the h1c is smaller, but is it still big enough for my goals?

I may be completly wrong on this one but here we go. I was researching holsets to put on my 2.5l. The h1c and hx35 are pretty simmilar turbos. but the hx is newer and I think a little smaller so it will spool a bit better/faster. Either way these are built for high boost pressures so both will work. (stable and in the effency range up to low to mid 20psi). Reading around on the HT board there were guys running the HC1 on a b18(x) and seeing boost at 3500-4000 rpm. Search around on that board there are tons of guys using holsets. BTW they are not that cheap anymore alot of people have figured out that they are gold mines as far as boosting.

As stated, they are very similar.

The HX35 is a newer turbo than the H1C, and typically has a smaller exhaust housing (sub 12 cm^2), where the H1C has a minimum of about 16cm^2.

I have an H1C in my garage that is big as ----. Has a divided tang t3 exhaust inlet, with a 3" vband outlet. I doubt any stock b-series could spool the damn thing, but you do have a lot more displacement so you should be fine. It needs a rebuild, but 50 bucks and it's yours ;)

I would look for a he351, that is the newest version that coming on the HO dodge cummins truck. It will have a 10cm turbine houning with a 61mm compresor wheel(99.9% sure on that) It is kinda like a hybrid older hy35w with an hx40 compressor wheel. I would say that would be your best bet at reaching a 500hp goal, I was running on older hy35w on my ford 2.3 turbo and made 420hp and 440ft/lbs at 30# of boost but in the upper rpms boost was starting to drop off. I have not to see car make the numbers that everybvody says the turbos are capable of.

Best place to find them is on the turbo dodge registry TDR and ebay. Here was one that sold a little while ago.

But even the older hy35w's are very nice turbos for the money.

Holset HX40 with turbine housing 14, 60mm compressor and 65mm turbine wheel, that would be your turbo. With that turbo we dynoed 465hp/509Nm at 1.3bar on SR20DET... ;) Now it runs at 1.6bar and it goes like hell...
