HMT NE turbo y8 EK *lots of pics 56k beware*
This is my buddies ride, i just got it running tonight. Everything worked out pretty well, Im so anxious to tune the -----*** y8. So the setup is:
ss auto mani
ss auto wastegate
63/48 t3 (we thought we were buying a 48/60) jammed!
stevemode oil lines
greddy knockoff bov
obd 1 conversion harness and chipped p28
johnnyracecar budget 6" front mount
homo depot couplers
dsm 450's w/ radioshack resistors
came out better than i thought, started on the first crank too. No leaks or anything. looks pretty bling bling, Im kinda jealous.
Anyway, on to the pics!
thats the finished product.. Heres how we got there...
Homemadegaskets.com haha, i make all of them out of 2" copper round pipe. Then i cut it down the middle and flatten it out. Trace the shape of the flange onto the gasket and cut it out. Beats the ---- out of trying to find dp gaskets for t3's.
heres the dumptube and the ssautoshit manifold and wastegate. I told him to let me make the mani for him, but he didnt listen. He actually got a pretty good deal, $100 for the mani and an intercooler. All of the welding was done by me (my first time) with a harbor freight flux core. True hmt fashion. some of them actually looked pretty good twords the end. Actually, most of the tools we used were from harbor freight, i bought a 4" grinder and chop saw last month. Im very happy with how all of their stuff works, for the price- you cant
beat it.
gotta admit, i was trying to make the front page with this one! HA!
welding woulda been alot easier with an autodark helmet, not to mention one i didnt have to hold with my hand. This ---- was great.
More fluxcore madness...
front mount! "budget style" from johnny racecar
final shot of the downpipe, damn those welds are pretty Wouldnt be complete without a few whitey bends tossed in for good measure.

Gotta work on the timing map a little more, his car isnt insured yet to take it out for a real test drive. I need a wideband as well. Updates will follow shortly.
