Attachment 25927 Ching Chang Meow BOV-works awesome, leaked initially figured out that the O-ring on the plunger was too big, so i used a skinnier A/C O-ring to allow it to sit all the way into the valve seat. Doesn't leak at all now, and sounds aweosme. Attachment 25928 Attachment 25929 Used a 3/8 galvanized pipe fitting from home depot to weld to the pan for the oil drain, tunertoys oil drain fitting threads right into it. Soaked it in muratic acid first though to remove galvanized coating (Don't weld galvanized it can kill you). Attachment 25930 right angle -3 AN fitting from Summit racing to keep the oil line off the manifold Attachment 25931 My other ride... So thats my setup. I'm runnin a p06 ecu chipped by me. And using crome, and a LC-1 wideband to tune. Currently running 7-8 psi with DSM 450's. Runs pretty awesome. Special thanks to: My homie mike Xenocron Tuner toyz Racing Solutions for the turbo flange, mandrel bends, and flex-pipe. cambell-hausefield flux-core welder-I love you Let me know what you think. ;D |
Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
Turbo the other ride :)
Hows the 14b feel on a 2.2? I'm putting one on my 1.6 and people say its too small, I can assume it runs out of steam quick... cool project though, most people with f22's in their preludes throw them out in favor of the beloved h22. |
Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
One of the nicer HMT builds in a while now. Good job. |
Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
Good noob... One of the few lately.

Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
It pulls nice. Burnt up my stock clutch fast. Just put a ebay clutch in it and it seems to be holding fine for now. Definately runs out of steam around 5000 RPM. Could have something to with the fact that I'm runnin low cam H22 ignition maps. I think it might be a lil conservative for my motor. Still a lil rich too. I was going to H22 swap it but I already had the turbo and manifold coincidently, and stumbled across some accord f22's that run this setup. Thanks for the feedback. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
I can get you a basemap for your exact setup that I've personally tuned. PM for details.

I've been a member of this website for so long I cant belive this thread was my first post.

Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
Everybody complains about how heavy those cars are and all, but I love the shape of them personally, ur car looks hella mean from the front...Using that 4g manifold and 14b turbo was brilliant in my opinion because now you have LOTS of options as far as turbo upgrades go...I sold an EVO3 stainless steel mani recently that would have looked killer, and I've heard is the best flowing of the DSM mani's...I gotta spare 1G cast iron unit if you ever need a spare or the 1 you have now cracks(they're known to do that)...
|
Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
Yah im using a 1g manifold right now. But I'm soon getting a 2g manifold. I've heard they crack less and flow a lil better.

Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
Sweet glad everyone likes it. I also am still gonna weld the first two pieces of the hotpipe together too and wrap it with heat wrap. Havent gotten around to it yet.
|
Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
nice, i raped my f22 turbo. blew up at 140mph+. ahhh good times.
|
Re: F22a turbo Prelude!!
thats the great thing about f22's they are cheap as hell.
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Can you put a f22b single cam Vtec head on an f22a? Just wandering?

I'd compare the cam gears: if the OD, or teeth are different than your current motor, get the gears off the water pump and crank to match the head you're using. H22 head swaps on too, want one? ;) |

Youd see better gains from an a6 head and h23 IM. |
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Nice job, even kept your AC...and was able to clear the hood on the J pipe :y
Mine lasted 2 days before I pulled it out to build something larger (of course the turbo was ---- too and didnt work right) I love my prelude !! |
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Burnt through the a/c lines once already. Good old napa a/c line splice, and some heat wrap and zipties fixed the problem though. Working on making a heat shield for the manifold right now.
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Do you have any idea how much power you making ? Clean set up man
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Pretty much every turbo prelude has the IC piping going over the turbo. I was tuning a h22 turbo today and the IC piping was pretty hotl even with heat wrap on it.
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
If I had to guess I would say 180 to the wheels at the most. Its definately not as much as it could be but Im not done tuning yet. Its still wayy rich. Plus its stock exhaust. The only thing I dont like about the whole setup is the hot-pipe cause it runs right next to the manifold for a good 3 inches, that sucker gets HOT. I still want to make a heat shield for the manifold and wrap the hot pipe. Does anyone have a DSM manifold heat shield I can buy??

Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!

Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
That is a solid low buck HMT kit right there :) Good job
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
What is everyone's opinion on my stock fuel pump. Do you think it's enough for 7 psi or should I upgrade?
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Upgrade the wiring ;)

Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
thats sick looks good to.. i have a dsm mani laying around also..i know this thread is old but does the exhuast mani leak at all since you had to redrill it to fit?
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
i used to have the same year/model, 1st car i made a hmt kit for years ago, never finished and sold the car and kit cause it was turning into a rust bucket.. things clean
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
No, It doesnt leak at all. All the holes are pretty close except the far left one. But the ports match up perfect.
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
A little update. The prelude is still running awesome. I go to college at University of Centrala Florida and drive the prelude to and from my home town of jacksonville (140 miles one way). I have put over 5000 miles on the car without any problems so far. The only thing I have added has been coolant lines to the turbo. I am still runnin the stock fuel pump at 7 psi. Anyone have any insight to whether I could benefit from a Walboro. It feels like there is more power to be had top end and I think maybe I am losing fuel pressure. The Afr's are good but I would think if it had low fuel pressure it would not atomize the fuel as well and it might cause power loss.
|
Re: HMT F22a turbo Prelude Project!!
Get a walbro or an Evo fuel pump quit complaining. Oh yeah and Im buying you that greddy exhaust cause your gay and stock exhaust is for noobs.
I got your information -Your homie Mike |

Well folks, the prelude is still runnin great. Boostin to 10 psi daily. I drive the ---- out of the car every day including auto-x. Added a catch can and welded the J-pipe to the hotpipe to make it a bit cleaner. Also got an ebay cat-back (sounds pretty great in my opinion). Couple pics and a vid from out at auto-x below.
