Default HMT Catch Can

Some of you may know my last motor was destroyed by excess crankcase pressure and all the seals on my motor basically started to **** oil. To prevent this from happening on the new motor I have fabbed myself a custom catch can. Using an AC accumulator from a GM car designed to absorb moisture I rigged up my setup. One line goes to the breather box on the back of the block where the stock PCV line goes. The PCV is eliminated and that line goes to the inlet of the accumulator. Then the outlet goes to my turbo intake tube to pull a vacuum on the crankcase relieving all the excess pressure. Comments and criticism is welcome.

Wouldn't the vaccum suck in any oil or oil vapors that the motor passes?

That is what the can is for, hopefully it will absorb most of the crap and what is sucked into the charge pipe is just a little blow-by gas and what not.

can you draw up a primitive diagram? wouldn't having the hose going into the charge piping/external side of your tb not pull enough vacuum? i have mine going directly into my intake manifold to draw vacuum. maybe i'm just stupid. :P

That AC accumulator is not empty, there is decicant(sp) i there, I dont know if that would harm anyything but I thought you should know.

Yeah, the desicant will absorb crap, it won't get pulled out by the intake pipe if that's what your thinking. The reason I don't have it hooked up to the IM is because the IM under boost would push the gases back into the crankcase, or I was under that impression.

Ya its in a bag, I cant see it hurting anything. Did you not run the valve cover to it also?

I've been toying with the idea of using an "Elements" energy drink can for my catch. I think it would work. Opinions?

Also, Is there a reason why people don't use the dip stick tube as a vent location?
