Default HM Internal Wastegate Brackets?

I'm in a bit of a jam...

The turbo that I've been working with for the last 6 months, the one that I'm basing my whole setup on, doesn't fit in my car.

I mean it fits, but there's just barely enough room for the wastegate actuator (i'm running the internal wastegate to start). I don't want to dump the turbo for something else, and I don't want switch from the STD manifold/adapter plate for a turbo manifold and a external wastegate.

I'm trying to fab something out of some brackets I got from Home Depot, but if any of you guys has some good pics of some homemade brackets, post 'em.

THANKS!

lol I got one, but a good bracket is not what it is lol
I just welded a plate to the piece of the chopped op stock bracket en drilled a hol in it and screwed the wastegate to the turbo and I welded anew wastegate arm

I had to find a way to shorten the whole thng about 3 inches to clear the driver's side lower motor mount bracket (the bracket is kind of square and does more to hold the A/C compressor in, but the lower motor mount is bolted to it--and no, I don't want to cut or remove this... )

Anyway, I think I can get it to fit, but there's one hitch, the actuator head is going to be squished between the manifold and the block. I don't think it's going to bend or anything, but will there be any adverse affects to having the wastegate actuator head (it's the compressor thing on the end, don't know what else to call it) actually TOUCHING the engine block...?

Bad...?

Doesn't matter..?

I don't think I have any other choice.

I don't think it would matter, as long as it's not touching the manifold.

why don't u try putting on some carb springs instead of the actuator? i hear thats a good solution....thats what i did too.....but then again i didn't get my turbo to work right yet....

Any specific reason why you don't want to cut the mount to clear? WHat year/model is this? Do you have A/C?

Well it's on...

The manifold didn't go totally on flush with the block, so I had to tighten the nuts down. I'm going back out to take a look at it from underneath to see what happened. I'm kind of hoping that the actuator compressor wall might have "collapsed" a little but I'm not sure yet. I'm just hoping that there's isn't any shearing pressure on the studs that would make them snap under stress.

I also noticed that it's not exactly hitting that bracket, but rather a "web" on the block and that's definitely something I don't wanna ---- with. Other than that, the only thing that worries me is that the actuator head and arm aren't exactly perpendicular to the wastegate lever... I'll take a couple of pictures in a minute.

A few hours with a drill, hacksaw, vice and files and here's what I end up with...

Washers below help rotate the actuator arm towards the flapper arm. Totally ghetto.

This is the only thing I'm not sure about. You can see at the base of the actuator arm, where it's not threaded or painted... The arm is kind of, I don't know, what the hell is the opposite of compressed? Whatever it is, the flapper is nice and tight but I'm not sure if it's going to work the way I have it set up.

Dr. Boost... Sorry, I think I missed reading your post.

It's a 95 Civic EX (D16Z6)... The A/C is completely out, but the way the actuator was originally attached to the turbo made it stick way out to the side. That's why I had to cut it down and I just really didn't want to mess with cutting anything else or compromise the stability of the engine/suspension. Turns out that part of the block was in the way too.

I thought I knew the answer to this, but I'm kind of doubting my mindset after reading some other posts. An internal wastegate's PSI is based on the spring inside? I read about that "lengthen the arm for more boost" trick, but does compressing the compressor by lengthing the arm raise boost? What if you shorten the arm (like the last picture above)? Did I just lower my factory PSI setting?

The guy I bought the wastegate actuator from painted it silver and you can see a small band of black where the arm is expanded outside the compressor head from, I guess, it's normal setting.

edit:
ERR.... ----. Do I have this completely backwards? -------A, I am totally wrong. So does having the arm expanded outside of the compressor raise the boost level? I am sooooo confused.
