high compression low boost?

i have a GSR motor with p30 pistons. Cspeed says its 11.5:1 compression ratio. when i do a compression test its like 220. is it safe to put a turbo on it?? everything else is stock. if i boost it will be low. just wondering if its safe??

Re: high compression low boost?

been there done that.........i was turboing 11-11.5:1, now i am turboing 10.8:1

u can turbo it, but u have to get really good management and injectors........basically u have less room for error......

pull those pistons and sell them.

Re: high compression low boost?

i wanna keep the pistons in there. maybe just a new headgasket i only want 220hp out of this maybe boost 5 pounds.

If you only want 220whp, then stay all motor. If your going turbo, then swap in some 9:1 pistons and go for 300whp.

exactly!! if you really do want to boost your project and not be so worried about the high compression, just throw in a thicker head gasket to lower you compression a little and you'll be ready to go. like chingro said, you can turbo it with th compression you have but you have to have a very good managment and there is less room for tuning errors

Re: high compression low boost?

like someone said. Drop the compression and up the boost. single digit boost levels (in psi) are for pussies.

Re: high compression low boost?

feels good when i am running single digits boost level, and i smoke a guy running 15+ psi................. O0

Re: high compression low boost?

ive been talking to some people on other fourms and one person said that my turbo is too small and will jut be blowing hot air into the motor and that only running at 5psi that my wastegate will be open all the time. is this bad??
