HF manifold + AC?

Does anyone know if I can retain AC while using an HF mani, probably with a T3 on a D16y7?

Q.
Can I keep my AC when doing a homemade turbo project?

A.
We have tried a few times setting up a HF/STD kit supporting AC, with a few different turbos, and it will simply not work. Maybe if you had some type of crazy adapter plate that moves the turbo away from the AC compressor you could squeeze the downpipe right by. We normally remove AC when doing our kits. I recommend if you absolutely want to keep ac, check into a prefab kit.

Point taken - read FAQs more closely. Thanks for the actual response, though, rather than "do a search."

Next question: Is it the internal wastegate, the turbo itself, or the downpipe that makes it incompatible w/ AC?

Down Pipe

Could be a number of things really. The manifold is a BIG decider though.

right sized turbo/dp/adapterplate combo...it can be done.

click the link in my sig for example.

So all you had to do is mount the turbo 30 degree from centered on the HF manifold. ??? I thought it couldn't be done so im lost.

My turbo is backwards from normal, the exhaust side is on the pass. side. However, the turbo still interefered with the pump so it had to go.

yes...cold side facing driver side a/c compressor. rotated it 30-40 degrees so it would clear the a/c.
