1.9 block with 2.0 8 valve head (low compresstion) @ 17psi 212whp/262wtq (1-7/8" Exhaust & 10:1 AFR). (^Both with IHI Turbo and off the chart rich) This current non-intercooled set up @ 5psi is probly making ~145whp/165wtq. This car with A/C and P/S is 2300lbs, my other Escort is a base model with manual steering and no A/C is about 2150lbs. |

The stock internal waste gate on the T25 is about 8psi, that's just a little too high for the way I have it set up right now. So in order to run lower boost then the waste gate setting, I disconnected the waste gate from the flapper, and used just a spring (shown here) to hold the door shut with just enough pressure to run 5psi. I learned this trick from HMT, I was surprised to see it had no boost creep and still spools fast.

I call it more of a cheap basterd getto style.
Any internal waste gate can be modified like that, Just disconnect the waste gate actuator rod from the flapper door and use a spring to hold the flapper shut. The harder the spring pressure, the higher the boost your gonna run.

Thats some pretty good work there, I like the Dsm mani mounted upside down converting to a top mount. Looks like there is no clearence issues for the hood either? Oil return looks damn good too.

Thanks. The clearance is good from the hood. Paint is'nt damaged at all. The turbo actully sit's lower then the radiator filler cap. I could'nt ask for a better fit, even if I made a custom log I could'nt improve the fitment. |
