Hey all :)

Hey everoyne, new to the site and Custom turbo kits in general.

Have a setup in mind and was wondering what everyone thought :)

engine is a JDM ZC SOHC vtec with 36k miles in a 92 EG hatch

Here's the setup i am looking at Lemmie know if i should change anything, and why.

14B turbo
Johnny RC 5" intercooler
HF manifold
BMC Adapter plate
greddy or 1g BOV (depending on how much xtra $ i got hehe)
greddy turbo timer
Boost controlor (dunno what brand yet)
Walbro fuel pump
440CC injectors
VAFC
A/F, boost, water temp gauges on a pillar pod

Downpipe and charge pipes I dunno where to get yet :(
I've heard about JC whitney? but can't find a website or any info.

Lemmie know watcha think guys!

save the money on the boost controller, turbo timer, and greddy bov, and get a real manifold and a bigger turbo imo. and jc whitney's site is jcwhitney.com if i remember right ;)

Re:Hey all :)

Jc's site isn't coming up :(

and what brand timer/controler/bov would you recomend?

Re:Hey all :)

not working for me either...i couldve sworn that was it. and you dont need a turbo timer or a fancy boost controller (make your own or buy a cheap manual one)...and use a 1G bov

Re:Hey all :)

that's it, it must be down ???

fl_civic_rider 05-05-2004 10:59 AM

Re:Hey all :)

I was gona use the 1g BOV cause they're cheap and i have heard good things.
I'm prob gona stick with the greddy timer cause it's only 80 brand new and i want my turbo to last a while.
I'm not mechanichally inclined enough to make a controler and would just assume buy one so i don't mess it up lol

Would a t25 be better? i don't want a big turbo so was thinking a 14b or a t25

Re:Hey all :)

remember custom coach sells piping kits, and extra piping and better intercoolers for better price. and despite what people may say ssautochrome manifold, and wastegate combo aren't too bad for a great price, he also sells downpipes, DSM bov ebay thats all under $600

Re:Hey all :)

get a .48/.42 t3

Re:Hey all :)

I agree. The boost controller kinda defeats the purpose of a HMT. Consider getting a used WBO2 instead of the new narrowband gauge (unless you can borrow a WBO2 from a friend). You can save some money on a used turbo timer, or just sit in your car for 30 sec while it cools down.

I have to agree on the turbo and manifold. You'll outgrow it and want something bigger/badder soon prolly anyways.

Re:Hey all :)

Like i said I'm still new to this, so forgive my stupidity
but what's HMT?

and I was thinking the T3 .48/.42 as an option also :)

I don't really wanna go bigger/badder anytime soon cause I'm saving to buy my uncle's S2k and until then this is my daily driver.
I just want more oomph if i break 175 hp I'll be happy.
I'd like 200 though :D

Re:Hey all :)

nevermind just realized HMT = home made turbo :P

you'll be able to beat his s2k easily with a .48/.42 on about 10 psi, very easily obtainable and safe for a daily driver.

Re:Hey all :)

ok i guess my next question should be:

aren't the 14b/t25 internally wastegated?
and the t3 is not?

what spools up faster? a t25 or a 14b?

Your never going to hit 175, especially if you plan on living to tell us about it, Just use the set up you had in mind if its only for a short while, and have fun but dont be stupid

fl_civic_rider 05-05-2004 12:42 PM

Re:Hey all :)

i won't hit 175 with that setup and proper tuning?
damn

Re:Hey all :)

your setup sounds good to me, yeah you'll prob want to upgrade the manifold/turbo later, but start small and work your way up

i like the t25, fast spooling turbo.. ever ride in a 2g dsm? Spools around 2500 rpm, you can buy a good condition t25 for around 100 bucks.

for a boost controller, go with a hallman pro. for many reasons that's the best out there, do some reading on it since my hand is hurt and I can't type it all out.

just my .02

hp, not mph :P

fl_civic_rider 05-05-2004 04:22 PM

Re:Hey all :)

ya thank you ghettoturbo hehe I ment 175whp-200whp not MPH
I think that's easily achievable with this setup and proper tuning.
