Default here's a good question for you turbo freaks....

what the size oil fitting(top) do I need for a gt-17 garret turbo off of a vw 1.9TDI? It's definately not a 1/4 NPT. It's a strait thread... looks to be around 16 tpi or so. It's like one step smaller than the 1/4 compression fitting I have. About 7/16" major thd. dia. I have no idea, and I'm tired of buying all these f***ing fittings that don't work. Metric?

Anyone out there have a newer VW TDI....

Take it to a shop that sells racing ----. They should sell a bunch of fittings. Set it on the counter and tell them what you need. If they are any way helpful they will find the correct one.

they are banjo threads. They're not pipe threads because they're not designed to seal.
unless you re tap, you have kind of no choice to use a banjo that seals on the periphery of the hole with a copper ring.

Ok then... here is an even better question...

Does anybody make a banjo fitting with a 1/4" compression fitting on the end of it for hardlines?

I'm using 1/4 brake line to move oil....

I'd hate to buy all new ---- just because of that...

Thanx guys ~ Ben Gifford

hey man, take it to your local machine shop and have them check it out for you...if no standard sizes seem to work, it's probaly metric...Blaast told me that I would ALSO have to get the banjo fittings for my water ports, but I did some looking around myself and found some, they wound up being metric...I feel ya pain, it was startin' be a real pain n tha *** for me as well...

Find an oil/hydraulic shop. They have ALL the stuff you need, and will make you custom lines.

Thanx u guys! I found some ---- that will work, but I think I've bought my last item. I have enought fittings at my house to start an ace hardware.

I found a thread guage and it's a 12mmx1.5 pitch. I'll just make one up on the lathe at home. I'm just workinig too much to bother right now. bigger fish to tackle if you know what I mean.
