HELP timing problems

first off , why is timing a d16a6 a bitch?
i had a d15b2 and it could be off 7 teeth in eihter direction and still run. this a6 is a cockscker when it comes to time. it all started when i diecided to retard my timing since i was running 10psi and i donno if i heard pinging or not.. so i wanted to be safe and retard it 5 deg . so i get it TDC and the cam to th timing points. tighten the belt then wtttteee wttttee nothing, "im relly pissed after i did this 6 times in a row in the past hour. then i finally get it to start then it runs like ----. no tourque. so i come back park it shut it off and do it all over agin.. wham after 10 more times of sweattin my ass off int he sun, cutting myhand open and ------- wiht it . i get it timed. it runs but like ---- agin.. i take it to the shop where i work re time it agin.. i got it to where theres HP but not until 3800 + rpm.. is it possible to have it too retarded? like at the last tooth, but when i turn it forward twards advance it dont start...

i timed over 50cars "honda of course" in the past 3 years and none of them even gave me a problem like this one.. ive even did a Zc and i got it on the 2nd try, fill me in on info.. im all ears and im taking notes on this one...

this A6 sucks!

Yea, it looks like you did a lot of work for nothing? Do what he said ^ If you can get it back to normal.
