Help, Small air filter?
I need the air filter for my turbo. I posted yesterday and got an answer with a part # but was told I had to order and don't have time for that. Where can I go to just buy one, I have limited space in the set up and all I need is the filter to finish the installation.
Thanks |
Re:Help, Small air filter?
Uhm, I guess your the only one that could find this out for yourself.
Why? We dont know where you live, so we dont know what race shops have what in stock, We dont know the exact size of your turbo inlet We dont know how much room you have off your turbo setup. This is something only you can really do, Do you want to run a pipe off the inlet and relocate the filter? Lots of different options, Why not just go to a few stores and see what they have and try to make something work? Btw, you dont need an air filter to run the thing, its not the best idea.. but it wont kill your turbo to run it like that for a few days, as long as you dont live on a gravel road ;) |
Re:Help, Small air filter?
Its a t25 with a 2" inlet and have about 8" to place one in right off the turbo, no space for a pipe off it. I have seen a few in the setups page but none of them explain what kind of filter it is. I went to 3 auto parts store thinking I could find one on the rack but I have to order everything. Just thought maybe something like a marine or motorcycle shop would work.
Another question, will the silicone elbows from a hardware store be ok for charge piping (heat wise)? Oh yeah, I live in Denver if it helps with any shops. Thanks |
Re:Help, Small air filter?
yup silicone hose will work just fine for IC piping..
Its worth a shot going to a motorcycle shop and seeing if they have any thing, Go-Cart shop, Hobby shop, I think some guy has a setup using a lawn mower air filter, heh |
Re:Help, Small air filter?
I dont know if this helps or not but I worked on a 01 Sebring and the filter it has is a small cylinder shape and you might want to go to a parts store and ask to look at one and see what you think.
ABout the inlet being small, you could get a 2-3" cupling and get a mushroom shaped fliter. Got any pics so we can get a idea of the room you got to work with? ---- another idea, get a 90 degree cupling and make a pipe to run the filter somewhere esle. It is time to start getting creative and make ---- work for you bro. ;) |
Re:Help, Small air filter?
I went out and ordered a K&N Filter for a yamaha banshee. It's a small cone, but decent for a turbo. It's about as long as a regular car filter cone, but it's slim to fit in tight places... (I.e. My overflow tank area. The tank will be moved to the side of the battery.)

Re:Help, Small air filter?
All done except for the filter and charge pipes. I have the pipes but it is a bitch finding a way to run them. I am going to a go kart shop tomorrow, they should have something if not I will try the sebring or banshee ones. Thanks guys I will get pics once it is done, it is coming out real clean.
