Omni power 4Bar MAP sensor - may use?!
P28 Chip for the ECU w/basemap for this setup - Phearable.net
Boost gauge with pod
Oil press gauge

Hey,
Ive got this setup on a D16Z6 Civic and its nearly ready to be started up. I just need the chaip from john vega but hes telling me that its tricky to make a basemap for the omni power 4bar map sensor and that i should use the stock sensor if im only boosting 6-8psi. But i dont wanna do that after paying for the 4 bar sensor, so should i just boost higher? will the car take it?
Help will be appreciated from those who maybe use the omni power sensors, Thanks

What was the reason you bought the 4 bar in the first place?

Is this on a stock motor? If so, the 4 bar was a waste of money.

~10 psi (stock MAP limit) on a T3/T4 will be pushing it on a stock engine.

Well ive not finished the project yet. Ive got 2 chips - 1 from xenocron - Which they mentioned nothing about the omni power 4Bar when ordering.
And ive also got a chip from phearable saying run the stock MAP.

So which option shall i use?

from the basemap page:
"***I recommend Basemaps ONLY be made for stock Honda map sensors. Larger map sensors should be setup by your tuner at the time of your tuning for safety."

...anyway, if its already installed, you can try the chip that was made for the 4 bar. It sure as hell wont be spot on, but you never know. Either way you need to get tuned, but a basemap for a stock map sensor is most likely going to be closer to ideal. Add in the fact that you dont need that 4 bar and you can sell it...and i think you know what to do.

Okay i'll take your advise.
I think i will keep hold of the 4bar sensor just incase i take it in for a good tune.

So i dont even need a missing link for the stock MAP? Using john vegas basemap? Sorry probly a stupid question

Re: Help the newbie =)

I asked about this also. you don't need a missing link if you are running crome or some other program. The map sensor needs to read the boost to get the car to run right.

why dont u get some pistons and rods and run that bitch all out?

honda_turbo_wannabe 03-13-2008 12:44 PM

Re: Help the newbie =)

Ha yeah, i will eventually.

I have a OBX camshaft. Should i not put that on? Ive heard there no good. Shall i just run the stock shaft untill i get a crower camshaft instead?

Re: Help the newbie =)

Ive gone an bought a crower stage 2 cam, skunk2 ti retainers and springs.

If i just get some good rods and pistons, how much boost can i give it?

Will i need a new chip if ive only stated 8 psi for a basemap?

Re: Help the newbie =)

Ur gonna want a tune if you spend the money on the forged internals, and it really depends on your power goals for the boost. if you get the right rods and pistons, forged anyting really, you can push what u want as long as u get a good tune. Remember though that it is all in the tuner

Having my cams fitted tomorrow. Installing turbo next tuesday!

Can you guys just check this for me an make sure its okay. Its my oil feed setup. Where i have arrowed ive drilled a 1.5mm hole which is 0.06 of an inch to help. Will this restrict the pressure and give my turbo what it needs?

Re: Help the newbie =)

i would swap the 2 gauges....use the pin needle to know how much is going to your turbo and the oil sender to monitor your block. i would rather have a burned turbo than a spun bearing

honda_turbo_wannabe 04-29-2008 03:45 PM

Re: Help the newbie =)

yeah, spose i could do that. whats normal block pressure for a d16 turbo? Whats the safe limits?
Ive been told i need 5-10psi at idle for the turbo, and upto 30-35psi full throttle

95_civic_lx 04-29-2008 04:09 PM

Re: Help the newbie =)

that sounds about right....i was told no more than 35psi @ wot

honda_turbo_wannabe 04-29-2008 05:51 PM

Re: Help the newbie =)

Right okay, what about the block at wot? No more than 80?
