Are you taking the wastegate completely off? Or are you just disconnecting the vacuum? You'll have 2 different results. Take it off, and you get no boost, since on internal wastegate the flapper will be open. External wastegate, there'll be a hole, exhaust leaves and wont spin the turbo much. Take off just the vacuum, the turbo gets all the exhaust, and you'll boost forever. I wouldnt recommend disconnecting the vacuum if you have a lead foot. You'll blow something up. I think this is how it would be...correct me if I'm wrong.

If the flapper is undone, and not letting the turbo free spool you will be fine.. DO NOT, drive around with the wastegate closed (spring/or normal wastegate whatver) and no charge pipes hooked up.. This will overspool the turbo, since the wastegate will not open, and will kill the life of the turbo.
