Help me identify this flange!
http://dolemite.dyndns.org/albums/al...0003.sized.jpg
I need to build a downpipe ... I need to find a flange to do so. This is a Volkswagen TA03 from an old-school 2.4L turbo diesel. I think Forcedperformance has that flange listed on their webpage but they want *50* bucks for it!!!! So anyway if you guys can help me ID this and find somewhere cheaper, I'd appreciate it :D |
Re:Help me identify this flange!
Dude, your best bet is to go to a local machine shop and have them fab up something for you. I know the local ones around here are pretty reasonable. Yours shouldn't be that bad.

Re:Help me identify this flange!
dude i thougi had seen all those wierdo flanges but everyday somebody finds and even wierder one. LOL.
Gimpy u got no idea. easiet thing to do would be to find somebody with a scroll saw or a plasma cutter and whip one out. the only thing that i can even begin to think of that look remotly similar is something off of a kkk k26 but im not even sure if the new TDI flange is the same. sort of looks a bit similar. but i could be wrong. Where do you find this stuff. Oh hate to go off topic but does the 4th gen accord have an electronic shifting stuff on it other then the lock up converter seleniod ? i know your the man with 4th gen accords. thats why im asking |

http://www.ecimulti.org/albums/album...0004.sized.jpg well I'll look for this flange on ebay and in the classifieds. otherwise its bandsaw, drillpress and dremel time :D |
Re:Help me identify this flange!
Yeah, this looks like a flange off a KKK K26.
|
Re:Help me identify this flange!

If you look at that pic you can see the slot port coming from the WG. I have never/no need to remove that plate. I assume there would be a flapper behind it tho like every other internally gated turbo. |
Re:Help me identify this flange!
i can't see how that "slot" vents enough exhaust to bypass the turbines... prepare for boost spikes.

What kind of turbo is it? Definitely looks KKK, what does that green label say on it? |
Re:Help me identify this flange!
Its an Air Research TAO307 42/48AR from a mid 80's Volkswagen LT35 Van equiped w/2.4L Turbo Diesel V6 (one of those weird ass tall vans that we didnt get in the United States). I have no idea how it found its way over to the US... this is the turbo I (luckily) got from Smokey_civic. It is NOT watercooled. Besides being kinda ugly, this thing spins freely and has *zero* shaft play.
The green label says "Volkswagen" and has a couple internal p/n's which is how i determined where it came from originally. http://www.turbomaster.com/img/despieces/TAO3.gif |
