Help me get the exhaust housing of my 14b....
ok ... i got it off... was pretty easy too ... couple hits with a hammer and she was off.......
now some things that i notice since its off, and i just wanted to ask if it was normal ....
right behind the turbine i guess there this black metal plate.... and its free moving
i turns around if u move it by hand
also once the housing is off the turbine wheel seems to be scraping on that plate plate a little ... not alot, just a little .... still spins ok ..... i didnt hear this noise when the turbo was together, so im hoping that once its all back together and it spools up everything will just kinda sit back into its place like it was before
also the shaft play is so minimal i can hardly tell at all, but i can hear some kind a squishing noise from behind the turbine when i move it ... very minimal .... im guessing its some kind of a seal ... is that noise normal
? there was no oil on the turbine side, so im hopings it ok ....
as far as the other exhaust housing goes i went to look at it, but that one also has a crack in it, though much smaller than the one in mine...... so if i cant find a perfect one on here or on the net anywhere i will just settle for the other one ..
ok ... so thats the update.... and more help is apreciated and thank you to all of you who have helped me out so much thus far...

The plate you are referring to is the backing plate and it's completely normal for it to spin and contact the turbine wheel. It will not do so once the housing is back on. Don't worry about the squishing sound either. It seems as though your turbo is just fine. Slap the housing with the smaller crack back on and roll with it man!
