Pretty massive huh? Sounds like a saab turbo. Probably a 42 or 50 trim compressor wheel with a .48 ar turbine. Good for 700hp if you have jdm headlights.. 250 hp if not. Sorry. ::)

.42 massive? mine came with a .60 compressor and a.48 turbine. :D

Mine came with a .60 compressor and .48 ar also, but mine came off of a Ford. Probably either a T bird or a Mustang. Not exactly sure which.

Re:help identify my t3

should be a mustang, the t-birds came with a smaller IHI turbo.

Re:help identify my t3

this is why i say it's massive...it's about twice the size of a 14b

Looks like a Chrysler product.

The O2 housing matches, as does the EGR and .42 compressor.

Spooled good and low on a A6. medium compressor.

Re:help identify my t3

That is definetly a Dodge K car turbo, not a bad unit,a true T3, just hard to fit on a Honda, or any motor with a front monted exhaust manifold. The Dodge engine had the exhaust on the back of the block, so the down pipe/O2 housing faces to the rear, if you mount it on the front of the motor it points at the block, turn it around and it points at the radiator. You can take this piece off and make an adapter plate to go in its place for your down pipe but then you have to run an external waste gate, the waste gate flaper is in the downpipe/O2 housing. And no other T3 flaper will fit the Dodge housing, the bolt paturn is diferent, the mounting flange is wierd also, not a standard T3 flange.

Let me help clerify you. TBirds and Mustangs used Garretts. The Ford Probe used the IHI.

Re:help identify my t3

i was already planning utilizing a tial wastegate, how do i go about taking off the internal wastegate though? just remove it? do i have to do anything else? basically what im saying is what all do i have to do to make it work? i've got an HF manifold and i just ordered a t3 adapter plate, but i have to finish the bolt patterns on the plate. its basically just a 3/4" hunk of mild steel...

Re:help identify my t3

The Dodge T3 is a .50 trim turbo with .42 compressor AR... only about half the OEM turbo's compressor AR and trim match up. It is good for 250 hp. If it were the Saab unit, 220 hp.

Don't worry about the exhaust elbow setup on that T3 so much... just cut it off close to the wastegate flapper arm (so you keep the internal wastegate) and just weld your downpipe to it at whatever angle you need. Works great for the TT 5.0 crowd.

FYI, the Garrett is physically bigger than the 14b due to how old it's design is... Garrett T-series are just plain huge for their flow numbers. They still work, though ;)

If you're going external wastegate, just pick up one of these

uhm.. i think air research only made t4's.. i dont know of any stock turbos that were t3/t4's. u gotta watch out when pepole try to sell there t3's as t4's.

is the exhaust flange split?

also run the external wastegate. takes up less room and it isnt as prone to boost creep. but make the external wastegate flow with the manifold, not tee off it..

Re:help identify my t3

it sounds like a T3, my stock one said air research on it.
