Heatwrap and side-effects such as longevity of turbos.
Fellas I wanted to lower the underhood temps in my car, the turbo sits right next to the brake master so i wrapped the turbo and downpipe in heatwrap. Thing is, now it doesnt tak emuch to get my exhaust housing reaaaal red. This never really happend much before. The 14b is only oil cooled, will I kill the damned thing prematurely? Id hate to have to spend another 5obux on a snail

Tom, buy a moped, you obviously can't handle owning a turbo car.

Fix your EGT gauge, you dummy, and then you'll know if it's worth trying to fix or not.

-nog My downpipe is wrapped too.. I haven't had good luck wrapping the turbos, but they do build turbo "blanket" kits. At 1500+ degrees, you'll see a red snail housing and possibly manifold.. If you're lighting up your downpipe, I'd say you're real hot. |
Re: Heatwrap and side-effects such as longevity of turbos.
Egts are about 790C, timing map and fuel are controlled by megasquirt. The reason it gets red is cause of driving up the local mountain roads at part throttle. The DP doesnt glow only the turbo and mani.
