Heard a pop, now i won't hit boost. And other problems.

Hey guys, i've got a boosted d16y7 and it just got out of hte shop for having it worked on (non-turbo related), but it has a basemap with 14.xx ratio. Anyway, i drove it today, hit boost just a few times, then i hit it once and heard a pop. As soon as this happened i couldnt hit boost anymore. It sounded almost like it was in the engine bay, but then it sounded like my exhaust popped/backfired. Blown gasket? I was thinking blown coupler becasue i couldnt hit boost, but why would my exhaust pop?

I took it around the block just one more time, and as i was coasting to a stop sign, my car just started revving all to high heaven. I shut it off quickly (actually twice so my turbo timer wouldnt keep it running), and i turned it back on and everything was fine. It did this one time before the very first time i started the car after iw as boosted, but what is this?

Last but not least, idk if it was from before or after the "pop", but i have a small amount of what looks like oil/coolant pooling on top of my intake manifold on both sides of my throttle body. Any idea what this could be from, what you think popped and why it revved itself to the sky? I'm getting it tuned soon enough, but for the time being i can't even hit boost or anything and was wondering what you guys thought. No CELs, same a/f ratio, and it drives just like it is unboosted ever since the pop, so it runs fine, just won't hit boost.

EDIT: after consulting with some other guys, the pop i heard in my exhaust could be a backfire from my car suddenly running rich no?

IDk open the hood and take a look ::)

boosting when you are at the 14.-- afrs is dangerous at least.. Id say the oportunity to severly damage something while boositng in the 14.-- afrs is near guaranteed. Id say you suck at life for running at 14.-- and you should hope for the best

i didn't say it was a good thing, i was just letting you know that the basemap is giving me around 14.xx ratios usually. I have driven the car less than 20 miles on this basemap, its not like i drive it everyday (even though its supposed to be my DD, i don't wana drive it too much until it's tuned). I can't visibily see anyhting wrong under the hood, no clearly loose couplers or anything. I know i need to get it tuned, jsut wondering for the time being what you guys think the pop was.

I take it you didn't put your kit together and have no idea how to work on a car :3 :1

I say Pay $$$$ to the closest HMT member to come over your house and school your ass on how to turn a wrench

I would also say your a :8

...no couplers appear to be blown completely off. I looked around quite well under my hood before i posted this question, i guess i shouldn't have bothered you guys with a simple "just wondering" post, sorry to inconvenience you, as if you knew everything and boost as soon as you decided to take interest in it. i pieced this entire kit together myself (with many parts from the classifieds of this site), installed it all myself, and am not a mexican lol i'm just wondering waht you guys think of it, it's dark out and its winter so i don't feel like getting under my car right now and i just wanted someone elses opinion before i work on it more tomorrow morning.

go to homo depot or blowes and get a pvc pipe cap about the size of your turbo inlet, a coupler, hose clamps, and a air compressor nipple.
Go to the dollar store and get a squirt bottle for 99c
Drill a hole in the cap, thread in the nipple, mount this onto your turbo inlet with the coupler and clamps.
Then hook an air compressor hose onto this contraption and put like 5psi to it.
Then squirt soapy water on the charge pipes until you find the bubbles.
Fix leak, reapeat.
