Default Heads up guys, ALMOST killed my motor =(

This is somewhat of a heads-up post .....

I was comming home from shooting some pool with some friends, and I just happened to glance at my oil pressure gauge. While normally driving around 50mph, its about 60-75Psi, well I looked, and double looked and wholy fuckn ---- the gauge was bouncing between 0-25psi! I managed to get into a parking lot, popped the hood (keeping the engine running, I didnt know if it was an electrical manfunction) and checked the dip stick.
NO OIL LINE!
I looked on the ground and it was literally pouring out, and there was a trail of oil where I had driven into the parking lot. Anyway, I walked home, drove back with a flashlight, and TOUCHED the oil pressure sending unit for the gauge and it fell out. Well that sucked and now my cars just sitting in the middle of a parking lot somewhere =(
I'm not gonna be able to fix it until tomarrow at like 3pm cause I work from 6am-2pm and Im worried about it sitting there overnight =(

Anyway, just a heads up.... guys check your sending units regularly and I'd really recommend relocating them to the firewall, thats what I'll be doing.

Hopefully no damage was done, I drove a few miles with low oil pressure before noticing it :hammer:

No the sensor itselve managed to unscrew itselt. I'd read things about NOT putting it on the block because of all the vibration, but figured if I tightened it is hard as I could there wouldnt be a problem....well

http://www.theoldone.com/articles/oilpressure/

same thing happened to me. I made a smoke trail behind my car where ever i went. I seen oil dripping from the connection. I touched the sender and it almost fell out. it has since been relocated to the IM via a zip tie. 1 year later and no leaks.
