Default headgasket for a d16a6

im looking to get a cometic hp gasket for an a6. i was just wondering what thickness is reasonable. i'd like to lower the compression a bit. go for 9:1 or something.

i've been looking into it and i've heard that .043 is pretty thick, but i was under the impression the stock a6 gasket was .048?

so should i get the .043 or the .057?

I'd like to get an HP gasket because of the 'fire ring.' since i wont be building the engine at all.

if your not building the motor, stock comp is 9.2:1 i would leave it/ if anything you need a stock z6 or y8 meatal gasket

listen buddy, i dont mean to be a dick. but the stock compression ratio is 9.1:1 anyone with an a6 knows this. you obviously do not. with a z/y gasket, i would be raising the compression ratio, not exactly what i want to do. hell it's the complete opposite of what i want to do.

i think i've decided on the .057

according to http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm this will yeild a ~8.9:1 ratio.

thanks for not helping and stating false information.

set aside the compression ratio, the HP gasket should seal better than a stock one, simply because of the 'fire ring' idea they have.

i know everyone on here likes to name their projects. so lets call this one 'project safe.'

arp head studs - $110
-i should use new bolts anyways right? why not spend a bit more for something better.

cometic hp gasket - $100
-i need a new headgasket (only the headgasket), since i just bought the engine, the guy i bought it from said he would give me the money for the headgasket set. i could use the extra gaskets, but why get a shitty gasket set (felpro) for 110 when i can get just the gasket for 100, and it's 7 times better than the shitty felpro paper ones. and since the OEM metal gaskets only raise compression, thats just stupid.

now, 210 dollars. which i should get at least half reimbursed isnt that bad for what should be an indestructable engine at 7-8 psi.

first of all you little ****** i had a a6 in my rex boosted for along time, second of all your not going to be running enough boost for it to even matter, 7-8 psi is chicken ----. so the metal hg is less chance of a blow out. at 7-8 psi you could stand to raise your compression.1 for more off boost respnose. i know more about turboing cars and building engines than you could ever wissh. eat my ****.
