head studs question
I have a d16z6 and my head is lifing or the block is twisting because coolant is getting into the water jackets somehow. I am goin to put a new head gasket and arp headstuds in it. I was just wondering for people who had this problem with the coolant over flow tank filling up and ---- how many people put the studs in and that fixed the problem and how many put the studs in and it still had the problem? Oh and its not my timming.

lol coolant getting into the water jacket?...thats where its supposed to be. Sounds more like you mean its getting pressurized. Could be a number of things: headgasket, cracked sleeve, warped head, etc. Take it off and check it out.

Don't be a cheap ass and not get the head surfaced like me or you'll end up with another blown head gasket, which is gay. I would also opt for a metal head gasket.

haha yea i ment its getting pressurized. im running 8psi and i did buy a metal head gasket. I do plan to get the head shaved b4 i put it back on.

I have had this headlifting/sleeve shifting problem as well and since I installed the arp head studs and new OEM head gasket I haven't had any problems so far. I also backed my timing down a little bit, which according to TurbodCX is the main problem. TurbodCX also had this problem and he tried everything to fix it and aparently the only thing that worked was backing the timing down. I have read a few people did have problems even after installing the arp head studs though, but I don't know the exact details on their setups. Just make sure everything is level and get yourself a new OEM head gasket and make sure you torque down the arp's correctly. I would also look into some kind of fuel management so you can control your timing.

Your very lucky, and I still cant beleive you put on a headgasket without dowl pins... ------- nuts :-X What?!! That doesn't even sound safe :o |
