having trouble picking a turbo
I have two turbos, a 14b and a kkk k-26. Im running a d16 and i was wondering which one would work best with the motor at about 13psi. I know that the kkk k-26 is supposed to mimic a t-25 hot side but im just unsure as to which would be better to use.

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
you've never owned a sohc or a 14b how would you know ? ^-^

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
What are your goals?? Powerwise, not pressure wise.
But yes, i would got with a 14b probably. |
Re: having trouble picking a turbo
14B because they're cheap and easy to install and can handle quite a bit. 14b's have their issues like a bad exhaust housing design and a tendency to coke up heavily, but they're made to last at least 100k at 10-15psi. Of course there are better turbos available, but between the 2 given it's 14b all the way unless the K26 is significantly bigger, but who the ---- knows about a KKK turbo bwahaha?

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
The K26 is 53/47

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
AFAIK there are several different compressors used in a K26.
Here is one map though. http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbo/TurboMaps/k26_map.jpg |
Re: having trouble picking a turbo
Well that pretty much sums it up. A 14b is the better choice out of the 2 for a D. Both would be fine though, but 14b easier and you can switch to any Mitsu flanged turbo after you have your car set-up for a DSM turbo. That means 16g, 18g, 20g and all the other Mitsu/Garretts like the ever popular PTE 50 trim.

Is that ok for you bitchasscracker?
no because he said which one of these two turbo's and you smutter off some retardedness of a turbo not listed that like taking a multiple choice test a, b, or c and answering R |
Re: having trouble picking a turbo
During multiple choice test I have more than once gone up to a teacher and told them that the questions is incorrect, outdated, or none of the answers fit the question and heres an answer i feel best fits. All of which are correct in their opinion if your willing to justifiy your answer. :6

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
Thanks for all of your guys imput. My power goal is 220-230, just enough to keep me happy for a daily. I think i will stick with the 14b.

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
220-230 if thats on a stock motor your about 20 - 30 hp over the recommended max of 200hp on stock motor.

many people have pushed the sohc to 230hp |
Re: having trouble picking a turbo
Just because people can get 230hp out of a stock motor doesnt mean it will last or if its reliable. I believe he wants the ability to drive it around and not just to the track. :6

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
Yeah, but with a 14b he won't make near that. I know what you're saying though. I think 200-250whp range is perfect for that 14b and with a lower end that's assured stout he'll have a fun street car. It'll beat or hold its own against a lot of the other tuner cars out there. It'll be a boosted car which beats NA at least on small displacement 4 bangers. Hello torque OMGHI2U! The funnest cars aren't always the most powerful IMO. Something that excites during WOT and is still decently reliable is great too.

Re: having trouble picking a turbo
better, would be to ditch the turd and buy the rest of the audi 5000s it most likely came from.
