having problem with downpipe b16

i putting together my turbo on my b16 91 crx si. i put the manifold and t3 turbo on the block (the manifold is the same as beau second on drag one). the turbo is from a 92 dodge spirit r/t ar is 52. the downpipe flange is big and its hitting the tranny any help of solving this. i look at the turbo projects and i have a different flange. i was thinking of cutting out a piece of the crossmember out. but i don't know how beau and jeff and anybody else did. any help will helpful. i don't know how to put up a picture on this site.

The simplest thing to do would be to get an exhaust housing from another T3, the SAAB 9000 or the T bird unit would work great. You can interchange all the housings on the T3 turbos. The problem is the mounting flange is different, so you will have to modify your manifold, but there should be plenty of room on the old flange for the new one as the dodge flange is larger than all the other T3s. Check E bay for a used turbo housing, you can usually pick up one cheap if the turbo is no good.I am not a big fan of cutting and welding on cast iron, it can be done but I dont think it will last forever.

Sometimes we chop the exhaust housing flanges and weld new pipes to them, sometimes we use adapter plates off the housings and build a new housing.. Depends on what setup we are doing.

If you are going to cut the cross member, make sure its not to big.. a small notich is ok.. but be careful.
