My friend has a B20 in his hatch. So far its been working great. The only problem with these engines is that they have weak sleeves. My best advice I can give you is to keep the boost low. (5-8PSI)

I'm sure Jeff (Abaz) would love to enlighten you about the B20--if you dont see him reply on your thread just send him a message.

Cant help you buddy... the one we've got is nitrous fed and not boost. But I'd rather put a VTEC head on it than a LS head, but its your call.

do some research on honda-tech.
you can use an ls block it will bolt right up.
ive heard the ls head flows slightly better and has better cams than the b20 head.
whats it going into?

First off, what B motor are we talking about? If it's the one from the early 90s preludes, the B20a, throw that piece of ---- away. If it's a B20B then using an LS (b18b1) head on it would be pointless, I think the B20B and B18B use the same ------- head (saw that on H-T once). Just get you some CRVtec action kicking man. B18c1 or B16 or some ----.

they use the same head, but adding either b18a or b18b cams to the head makes it a B18!!! lol... changnig the cams adds some HP and loses some torque

Ouch burned again about the cams lmao ;D

I wouldn't really call that a burn, I just neglected to mention the part about the cams. The question was in reference to the casting of the head.. my point was made that it's the same damn thing. Johnny only backed up my point and added some additional useful info. He should know, he's doing the cam swap on his b18a1 right now.

B20b/z's use Monolithic designed sleeves which are a 1 piece design. Unlike conventional cylinders (b18/b16's etc) Yes the sleeve itself is about 3mm thicker than other b-series and uses a 84mm bore (to gain displacement) But these sleeves are britle as hell. If you get any type of detonation they will crack, and crack in every single sleeve, and its normally not the outside where they crack, its the inbetween all the cylinders.

This was a Crvtec (pinned block) setup I had last summer, Dynoed at 306whp with 12psi on a very solid fuel map. Timing was a little on the agressive side around 22 degrees on the top end, which is probably why it blew (or it was that hard ass pull in 4th gear racing that GSX-R) ;)

So with that said, I would definatly start with a B18a/b or a B18c. They can take more boost safely. But the stock cast pistons are your next limitation.

A B20b/z and a B18a/b are pretty much the same thing other than the sleeve design and the larger pistons. Both have the same R/S ratio.

Btw, I know lots of people who have cracked sleeves on B20's just like me. I can name 5 people right off the top of my head ;)

the motor is a b20z it has 65,xxx miles on it and im looking on boosting like 5psi, should i replace the head gasket for a perfomance one and should i invest on a block guard im trying to stay in a low budget since i just had a new born a month ago but so far i got msd ignition, nology wires, ngk iridium plugs, dsm injectors and beside the usual turbo components like snail, manifold, pipes, intercooler what would be usedfull for me to get , and once again thanks to everyone for your help...
