h22 turbo question *pics of setup

How much power you guys makin on your h22 turbo setups. I got a t3t4 turbo 2.5 charge pipes and 2.5in dp and exhaust. I put a 6psi spring in to make sure i got it somewhat tuned before i up the boost. But the thing is a dog. I got a basemap off the xenocrome site then tuned the a/f ratio to 12 :1 and the timing is retarded about .8 per psi on uberdata. Just doesnt seem like its even faster then when it was N/A. My boost gauge reads 6psi and the turbo is fully spooled at 3k rpm. Im running it to 7500rpm for now. Im thinking maybe the basemap timing was off. I got a p28 ecu that i wired in and im not throwing any CEL. So any thoughts would be nice thanks. Ill post up the bin as soon as my friend returns my laptop. But in the mean time id like to do some diagnosing. Also what kinda times are you running in your ludes. Thanks Brian

Ill post some pics later also.

Re: h22 turbo question

ok well 6psi is enough to feel. so your tuning is just really shitty.

Re: h22 turbo question

umm yeah i know this.. ive had 4 different turbod honda cars... and i know how to tune af... i have perfect 12:1 af ratio... Cant really tune timing without a dyno or a egt. So im kinda stuck until i dot aht i guess. Cause im afraid to mess with it too much cause of the high compression and stock block. Unless its just something that im just not thinking of. Cant anyone with h22 turbos tell me what there timings set to at full boost.

Re: h22 turbo question

depends on how much boost your runing when my h22 was at 11psi i think i was running 21deg rite now im running 17psi and i think its on 16deg timing makin 400whp

can't you tune timing with a det can??

You recently molest timing belt (mech timing off), and have you checked base ignition timing?

Ok well i found the bin before i tuned for a/f . And im too lazy to go rip out the ecu to read in the bin with the af tuned.A/f shouldnt be the problem anyway.

When i did the install i never took the head off or did anything with the timing, and the car ran beautifully before the turbo install. I mean its def drivable now, it just doesnt seem like its even as fast as it was NA. I have a crap ass timing light i guess i could go out and check the base timing but it should be fine since it ran perfect before and i never messed with it.

Heres the .bin let me know what you think. I grabbed it off of xenocrome as a basemap cant remember original name maybe p28H22.bin. its done in uber 1.7. Thanks
Brian

Re: h22 turbo question

did you tune off boost? if so, everything off boost is way too rich.

edit, ill elaborate more.

in low vac(about half throttle or more) it is too lean, and anything less than half is too rich. the values are close to what a stock tune should be.

This bin does not have my tuned A/F, this is my original basemap i had. The timing didnt change any but i did modify the a/f.

are you getting 6psi on your boost gauge and if you are at what rpm? that looks like a ching chang chong meow turbo and manifold maybe its a piece of ---- and just doesnt work

umm read my first post.

Turbo is ebay... Manifold is ebay but hand welded..

well in uber it says at 21 deg im only at 8psi and u were at 11psi. So say my whole map is 3 degrees or so off. Would that affect the power output that much? I wouldnt figure a couple degrees to do that much power loss but then again ive never really tunned timing so i dont know.

Lets just say my timing at idle is set to factory. So in my map table if im retarded 3-5 degrees how much power loss is that with a/f set to 12:1.
Anyone with turbo h22 wanna share there map id be more then happy to look thanks.
Brian

i think there's a crome or uber map on xenocrons directory.

i am in no way a pro tuner thats jest what i been usen' on my map since i started tuneing but i do have a bilt motor and ran upwords of 22psi on it with that map and never blew it up yet

Yeah i understand that. Im just trying to make some sense of this timing stuff. Just wish someone whos tuned on a dyno or knows about timing would be able to tell me how much power loss im looking at being off by a couple degrees. Im going to start trying to find other peoples maps and see what there doing.

I've never had an H22 on the dyno, sorry, supposed to have one by xmas tho. Big bore + some of the results I see make them look very promising, but I also see a lot of busted ringlands.

Re: h22 turbo question *pics of setup

figured out some things.. I have a 8psi spring. i only get 6psi because i have a huge boost leak where i removed the secondary throttle plate. Guess the gasket didnt ever seal. It just kept getting worse and my boost would hit 6-7 and then die off to 3.5 - 4. Found the leak with a boost leak tester.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e5...r8/P_00088.jpg
I pulled off the top chamber put a new gasket on with thin layer of gasketmaker and the fucker still leaked. Im almost to the point of welding it shut, since i dont have the old tb plate. It must be off alignement or something, Jb weld might be my friend when i pull this thing off to get it sealed up for good.

Re: h22 turbo question *pics of setup

You should have kept the plate, removed butterflies and shaft, sealled the plate shaft bores with set screws and RTV.

Post some more pics of your charge pipe routes....routing charge pipes through my prelude at this moment, and am confused if I should remove my washer fluid, or drop down above the powersteering cooler. Also.....did you reclock the cold side housing ? I have a chargepipe coming straight up, and may have clearance issues with the radiator hose.

Sorry about the off topic :S

Yeah well the goal was to remove the butterflies.. Then cut out the middle webbing. Also pull the manifold and remove the webbing there.. so it was just a big chamber.. I ended up finishing the middle piece and missplaced it :( So now im back to pulling the manifold and getting this bitch sealed up.

Yeah i turned the cold side downwards. I ended up drilling a 3"in hole in my frame piece and removed my windshield washer fluid res. It was a pain in the ass. Plus i had to get pusher fans cause the manfiold puts the turbo liike RIGHT next to my radiator. Ill get some more pics here soon.

Nice setup man, just watch your compression.

o wow, not someone else that thinks high compression(10.6 is not even that high) is bad with turbo's. ::)

lol.. yeah its not that high.

Anyways.. I did a compression test tonight and i hit 190 all accross the board. Haynes says optimum is 185 so looks like im good there. Just gonna have to do a leakdown i guess.
