Does anyone know what the fitting for the oil feed line is spossed to be in this motor? I know a 1/4" JIC fitting fits right in but doesnt seem to seat properly, it seems like it should have a brake line type fitting..... can anyone confirm this?

the turbo is from a newer saab

I used a harley davidson brake banjo fitting with 2 more washers, stock turbo fitting bolt, and a -4 an line. good turbo 4 10psi.

thanks guys, i've heard that a 7/16th brake fitting works well so i'll try that as well

yeah i'm using the turbo on my b7, not a bad turbo for the 20 bucks i paid for it from a guy that works at saab

I got mine and a greddy manifold for 50 at the upull. it starts spoolin at like 2700rpm, didnt notice it dropping off before 7000. Ive been running 10 psi, but had it up to 15.

That is uncommon. The GT17 (GT1752) is truly tiny. It uses a T2 flange from what I've seen on the tiny *** .47/.53's, so look for a Garrett T2 oil fitting. They are known for failing prematurely on the Saab's, and that's at a measly 4-7psi. Also, the Saab Viggen is the high output version of Saab's 9-3 and 9-5 cars and comes with 225hp (underrated). It uses a Mitsubishi TD04HL 15T which shares the same oil lines (at least on the Saab, but probably all) as it's little brother the GT17, so you could definitely figure out what size it was quickly.

Seriously though, the GT17 is a terrible design. The journal and thrust bearings are downright funky. If you're planning on running it oil cooled only at above stock wastegate pressure then you may as well not bother installing it because you'll be pulling it off instantaneously. Even oil and water cooled they overheat and fail, so oil only is guaranteed death. In addition to being terribly unreliable they flow like absolute ----. In the right conditions the maximum output of a GT1752 just BARELY nicks the 200cfm mark! That is so crappy. In comparison, a 14b flows 405cfm or a DSM T25 flows 330cfm. When a turbo is giving up 130cfm to a DSM T25 that says it all haha.

Well there's my tech lesson for the day. It doesn't get much smaller than a GT17 as far as common passenger car turbos go, so I would seriously reconsider running it. There's a reason you paid $20 for it lol.

Anyway, to the dude with the GT17 claiming it holds 10psi to 7000rpm you must have a factory freak turbo or someone slipped a GT20 series compressor wheel in it when you weren't looking rofl. As far as 15psi goes hahaha that's just plain ridiculous. At that point it's hurting more than helping. On the stock Saab 9-3 it's starts spooling before 2000rpm and falls off soon after 5k. That's on a 2.0L as well, so IDK how you managed your numbers unless you have a really tiny motor that's low compression.

Id love a GT17 on a quad. hell id put one in my civic just to have a little more torque that stock if i had a buddy parting with ne for $20. a pair of them on the v6 would be a fun project for alittle power.
it was pretty cool to see saab couldn't make a modern broad powerband v6 so they slung one off a single bank v6. that was pretty neat for an OEMl. been thinking about making a cheap single bank kit for the v6 lexus with a 48/63 or a t3/t4 for a long time. that way no relocating the CC and battery + installation and piping no more complicated than a Y pipe.

My bro brought one of those gt17's home one day (he's a saab mechanic), and yeah, I had to laugh, my 63/60 t3 looked like a monster next to that thing.
I should take a pic of it next to my HX35.
