GSR turbo question
im about to boost my GSR motor. It currently has a built head with CTR cams, JG Valve springs and retainers, Type R valves. its been milled, ported, and polished. im not sure how much it was milled. Now i know that im going to be pulling my head off to take it to a machine shop to see how much its been milled. i have to do this in order to figure out my cometic head gasket that i will need. Now this head was built for high compression and i believe its at 12:1 or a tad bit lower. My main question is. when i buy a thicker headgastet to bring my head up and to lower my compression so i wont blow the motor, would i be able to get away with the stock bottem end. also is it safe to take boost up to 9000 RPMs at 9-10psi. specially on the stock bottem end. im going to be running the stock bottem end till about christmas time so it wouldnt be for long. i just dont want a hole on the side of the block. any info will help.
Heres some specs on what i will be running Main pieces of the kit: -CRPturbo custom topmount T3 turbo manifold 38mm wg flanged -CRPturbo custom 3inch to 2.5inch downpipe -CRPturbo custom dumptube for external 38mm wastegate -CRPturbo 2.5 intercooler piping -Greddy Type RS blow off valve -Garrett t3/to4e .63a/r .57trim turbo -38mm Tial polish silver wastegate -XS Power bar and plate intercooler 27x6x3.5inch |

Id invest in low-comp slugs.

Re: GSR turbo question
is this a usdm gsr motor? if it has the stock pitons even with mad milling the c/r did not jump from 10:1 to 12:1, that requires ctr pistons, if its a usdm stock block and its been milled heavily its prolly near 10.5:1 c/r in which case it would be fine to put on a head gasket that drops the c/r by about a point and have around 9.5:1 c/r which is perfectly fine for boost, if its a jdm gsr block its 10.6:1 c/r stock and heavy milling could net an 11:1 c/r, in which case i say your wasting your time with a headgasket.....hope that helps..
