Re: good bov

DSM is a good cheap route to go...should handle anything under 14psi or so easily and if its crushed it can take more...I personaly think either the Tial 50mm or the HKS SSVQ are great for any setup, can't go wrong with either and they can be found used for a decent price but the DSM should be more than enough...

You guys ever used the Bosch kind? (cheap plastic ones) I am not sure they hold up to alot of boost, but I have seen them a dime a dozen in the bone yards....

eh I've heard they can leak...1G DSM are so cheap and easy to find no reason to not use one for a cheaper setup

I'm running a Tial 50mm and love it. I like the sound, not super loud like some of the cheasy e-bay ones I've heard. I've also heard many stories of the cheapos leaking. Spend a few extra bucks and get a good one.

Knock off Tial 50mm FTW :D

Re: good bov

First spend the money right buy the real things yes some of you run knock offs of the real thing but pm me a year or two later and tell my if yours is still working at well as my real HKS. Tial and HKS are the best one to get. If the one your running or use starts to flutter i know it may sound cool to some but that noise is really bad. HKS is great i'm using it on my turbo gs-r and i had it on my SRT-4 especially the new version that i have because there's no more adjustments needed. Tial i have heard is the best flowing. Also check out this new company SYNASP engineering. I think i spelled they're name wrong. Their waste gates and BOV have revolutionized the market and are great BOV's and external waste gates. They can mount to any of the popular bov flanges and use no diaphrams or rubber pieces. I'm changing out my TIAL 44mm waste gate and HKS BOV to their waste gate and bov this winter. Yes the Bosche and 1g BOV's will work make noise but spend the money on quality parts and do re-search on what will best be for your application. Stay away from the turbo smart or turbo x's ones don't know which one it is but they're the ones that don't use flanges the slide over a piece of pipe and use three screws like shift knobs. They're crap and leak plus they're RFL BOV is annoying loud and over sized and i don't think you want people thinking you making up for short comings else where. The bigger and louder isn't always better. DO your home work

Actually if you did your homework instead of listening to HT hype you would have bought a knock off blow off valve too :-*

I use a CDM HKS style, I had to super glue the valve in because It kept falling out, other than that it works perfect.

Don't forget about the good old Sard R2D2. Easy as hell to install and supports all you'll need. The high boost RX-7 and Poopra guys in Japan run them and swear by them. It looks like a spaceship too! :S

i used one on my first set-up, fell in my tool bag at the junk yard. very easy to work with if you take the plastic pipe too. i just drilled a hole in my charge pipes and cut the flange with a curved piece of the pipe still on it and JB'ed that ----.
