GM diesel turbo.

Hi folks. Say does anybody know anything about this turbo? I pulled it from a 95 GM 1 ton, with a 6.5L diesel eng. Not much info on the castings, Compr. housing has raised numbers 51/32 03F5N. Riveted plate says 131 270, Exh. housing has raised 110/55N. It's in really good cond., maybe rebuilt. Just wonderin what kinda power it mite handle. Thanks, S.

Hi. Thanks guys, sorry 2jz, not enough of a computer file to know how to post em. Good info, thanks busa, any idea what kind of power it'l support? With those low AR numbers it may run out of juice pretty early, huh. Big enough to help with towing on my 454 Jimmy truck? Thanks Folks, S.

for a 454 gas engine, it is way too small. you may need to do a twin turbo setup. twin t4 turbos should do the trick and boost low enough in the rpm range where the 454 is most usefull.

I'm thankin' you again busa. I've got a Garrett TV 7101 I pulled off of a mid 80s Jimmy diesel that big enough, but it's such a monster. I have dry fitted it up under the bed behind the pas .side cab. I'ts doable, but that old boy will take some time to spool up & down. But I'm still gathering parts. Appreciate your indulgence, S.

one large turbo will give you too much lag especially if your installing it far away from the header. this wont do you any good on an engine thats going to live at ~2000 rpm.
i looked at some twin turbo options but they need to be installed near the heads to be affective. installing turbo/s far away from the header is trial and error. you never know whats going to happen.
i think two garrett t3 gt30's or gt35's will spool up nicely on that big block beast.

just as i thought would happen with a rear mount. check out your boost graph. boost starts at 2500 rpm and it takes another 2500 rpm just for the turbo to spool up to 7 psi boost. awesome setup and numbers. i would love to see a video of the dyno run.

You and me both I dropped it off at the tuners the day i deployed to Afghanistan, my buddy picked it up. I plan on getting video when i get back going to a smaller exh housing and turning up boost and fuel psi
