Garrett T25 question!

Hey guys new to HMT came from lame HT, just have a couple of questions.

My friend is looking to boost his d and has a garrett t25 off of a 98 Eclipse GST i believe sitting in his garage that he'd like to see put to use. My question is what manifold will work for him? I have an extra greddy manifold lying around and he'd like to buy it but i don't want him to waste his time getting it from me and it not working?

Thanks

^^wow twelve year olds like you belong on HT, this is a tech question not one to be answered by a racist dirtbag like yourself

This is homemade turbo. Learn to search. Greddy wont work different flanges

What? Yeah it will. I've seen plenty of T2 flanged Greddy manifolds. Maybe you're thinking about the outlet on some of the Greddy turbos that are kinda oddball, but they're not Greddy specific lol. Greddy doesn't even make their own turbos IIRC. They just modify others, usually Mitsubishi, so how would they have Greddy specific flanges for turbos they don't even make?

To the OP. People are knockin you because you asked a really simple question. I'll answer it because I just did a clutch job in a 3000GT VR-4 that took way too long and I've passed the angry/tired stage and I'm now delirious and kinda happy really ahaha!

So I'll answer your question and then explain flanges a little. No, your Greddy manifold won't work with his DSM turbocharger because DSM's use a specific 4 bolt flange that won't bolt to whatever your manifold is. IB your manifold is T2 flanged, so that wouldn't work with a DSM turbo. DSM turbo's are oddball though. They stay popular because the 14b and 16g, and even the Garrett (but Mitsu flanged) T25 turbos are popular for HMT set-ups.

Every turbo has a specific exhaust inlet flange (i.e t2,t3, t4, t6, dsm, 3 bolt, even v-band, etc). As does every manifold. For the turbo to bolt to the manifold they have to have matching flanges. So your manifold would have to be the 4 bolt DSM style flange to accommodate the DSM T25 that is also a 4 bolt DSM flange. Starting to make sense? Your manifold is probably T2 flanged, so made to accommodate a T25 or T28 or any T2 flanged turbo, but since that DSM T25 is made for a Mitsu and has the 4 bolt DSM flange; it won't bolt right up.

There are ways around that though. You can buy adapter plates. I'm sure they make a T2 to 4 bolt DSM adapter plate you can buy. You can also just weld the turbo right to the manifold, or drill/tap into the turbo or manifold's flange, but I don't think that would work in this case. It's very simple though. Manifold and turbo have to match. You can figure that out with a measuring tape. That's why you got so much ---- for posting the question. That's not HMT spirit if you can't figure something that simple out, but like I said; I'm all delirious, so there's your answer and then some ahaha.

^^haha dang! Thanks for all the info, I figured the flanges would be different but just wanted to clarify. Are you located in Bellingham?
