garrett t04b80 turbo

I am thinking about buying two garrett t04b80 turbos at a great price and I was wondering what kind of power i could expect from them. I want to put them on a 5.0 mustang and I am wondering if it will be worth all of the work. I am not sure what they came off of but the a/r on the compressor side is 60 and the exaust is 69 if that helps.

thanks

none of the rest of your question matters...so I was just wondering, whats a great price for one of those?

And hell yes it would be worth "all" the work

What's the diameter of the compressor wheel ? measured accros the wheel, from blade to blade?

The compressor wheel measures abour 1 3/4" and the whole inlet measures 3". I found some info. on the internet also. The turbine wheel inducer diameter is 74.2, turbine wheel exducer is 54.3, compressor wheel inducer is 46.7, and the compressor wheel exducer is 70. What ever all that means. Everyone I have called wants that info. The price for both is 350 for both and they are brand new or just redone. They look good. From what everyone has told me they are close to a t-3 or a t-4.

Re: garrett t04b80 turbo

That's definitely not a t3/t4

It's a T4 turbine for sure with that 74.2mm major.

Not sure the turbine trim looks like it'S either N or O or an odd one in between. Either way. It's huge. Even with 0.69 a/r, you need some very decent power to spool that corrrectly. i would say at least 200 HP atmospheric PER TURBO.. (so you would need a 400+ HP n/a mustang!!)

Looks like your comrpessor is a T04B S trim. That's 48 trim, the smallest of the t4 familly.
It's good for 300 HP max. THat's pretty small. That's a turbo for some industrial diesel engine with no wastegate (aka free floating). The turbine is chosen to never exceed X boost pressure, even at WOT, on an engine that is constantly running such has a generator, compressor, industrial snow blower or pump...

if it's for a 5.0 mustang, you would absolutely need to have these turbos modified with MUCH smaller turbines (i suggest T3 stage 1, 0.63 a/r) and it could bring your mustang to 500 WHP or so with great spool up.

Re: garrett t04b80 turbo

My motor is a 306, putting out abour 340 horsepower at the rear wheels. Do I still need to motify the turbine, and is the compressor side ok. Where is a good place to find a new turbine, or turbo parts.

Re: garrett t04b80 turbo

WEll don'T worry
go ahead and buy these turbos and try them as is. it'S a sweet deal.
these T04B S trim compressors can make 500 WHP I think. And these 0.69 a/r O trim turbines MAY be ok.

IF you have all that power already and you also get from ANY reputable shop the proper manifold, intercooler, exhaust and engine management, maybe you will spool these 0.69 turbines in a reasonable delay

If you find they lag too much, you can send them to me for trying a smaller Trim wheel and/or smaller A/R housing.
You should not have to redo your manifs in the process because I have T4 flanged turbines with 0.58 and 0.48 a/r for you to try.
I can even take your old turbines as trade in so it will cost you almost nothing
