Garrett .63/.48, B16A - Lag?
I bought a .63 exhaust .48 compressor turbo but got mixed up on the specs. I intended to get a .42/.60, the seller listed the numbers backwards and I didn't know any better then. So how well will this work in my B16A CRX? From what I've read, the bigger exhaust a/r means longer lag, correct? I'm not sure I quite understand the performance difference between large exhaust/small compressor and small exhaust/large compressor. Is there any advantage to this size, or should I try to sell it and get a better size? This is for a daily driver, not a drag/race car. (The seller stated it has less than 1k on it after rebuild, it looks like its in good shape, so I should be able to sell it if need be.)
Thanks!
Thanks!
If I was you I would try to sell it and get one that has the numbers the other way around (.48 turbine/.60 compressor), some people on here like a .63 turbine instead...the .48 will spool at about 3000 and the .63 will spool around 4200. The .48 will tend to run out a little at the top end where the .63 will take a little longer but will pull all the way to the top. Down2turbo sell alot of stuff...check these out

Thanks, Zeusfire69, that's what I was afraid of. I sort of found the answer myself, I just read the section on compress size mismatch on this thread http://www.evans-tuning.com/viewtopic.php?t=102 and if I understand right the .63/.48 will give me lag and poor top end
. Now I have to sell this thing and find a replacement. Lesson: pay more attention and learn more...
