what are you talking about?

Re:full time vtec kit?

i would be bad to have your VTEC on all the time. VTEC would bog hella bad at low RPM. Its made for 5500 RPM +.

what u talking about

Re:full time vtec kit?

I think toda makes it, but it replaces your lifters(the three things that your cams make contact with. on a forced induction car it can really help smoothe the power curve.

theres gotta be someone that knows what I am talking about.

Re:full time vtec kit?

Is this for a full drag car? Toda has a vtec killer cam that only has high cam lobes.. This is to reduce weight since they build high rpm race engines that don't need any power below 7000rpm. Vtec is so good because it gives you good power down low and good power up top because of the two different cam profiles.

Re:full time vtec kit?

isnt the whole purpose of vtec is to make a car have a little more umph without sacrificing fuel economy? Correct me if i'm wrong but all it does is just make the cam more agressive? :D
--------------------------------------------------------------
thats for single cam for dual cam vtec its got a contraption called variable induction majigy for more low end tourque if i am not mistaken :X

Re:full time vtec kit?

hook the vtec wire to the (+) battery terminal on your car, pow instant full time vtec. no low end, runs rich as hell before 5k rpm, and gets bad gas mileage. what a good idea

Crane cams sell Vtec eliminator cams

Re:full time vtec kit?

Get a Fields VTEC Controller.... you can set it real low.. so its on whenever you go

1337 06-24-2003 08:04 PM

Re:full time vtec kit?

you dont want vtec on all the time if this is daily driven consdering the fact your gas mileage=crap you could just get a more agressive cam :X

Re:full time vtec kit?

yeah I guess full time would be a little boggy.

Re:full time vtec kit?

try getting a controller like a VAFC and set the VTEC point at 1500RPM and see how "good" that feels.

I like pizza 06-25-2003 12:29 AM

Re:full time vtec kit?

I have a vafc, you cant lower the vtec more than 5000. with turbo you dont need vtec. if you coud keep it on it would make the car boost alot smoother and not spike as much.

Re:full time vtec kit?

My VAFC let me drop my VTEC to 4000 RPM and it really dogs down that low. 5000 to 5500 is the best for it that i have seen (at least where i live less air you know.).

Re:full time vtec kit?

1500 rpm??? why would you even consider that to be helpful. the profile of a turbo cam has lowlift and vtec has high lift? do you see a problem?

2000psi 06-27-2003 12:53 PM

Re:full time vtec kit?

your post doesn't make much sense.....but what I was trying to say is 1500RPM VTEC = BAD

Re:full time vtec kit?

have you ever heard of ericks racing... he uses that kit in his all motor 10.0 second racecar, also a guy from town who is trying to get into 8's uses that kit too. it replaces all of rockers and gives you full time lift.

also have you folks heard of crowers civic type r vtec spec camshaft for the ls motor? another full time vtec cam.

its really not as crazy as you all think.

hmmm.... that's odd, a full time vtec cam on a non vtec engine. everyone knows that there are high lift cams, so if you are building a 600hp race car go for it, if you want it in your daily driver, go for it also, and let us laugh at you.

Re:full time vtec kit?

ctr spec cams are for daily drivers, but they require valve springs and retainers.

and yes I am going to make my civic 600 horsepower some day.... well look at erics racing for instance, he has the same power as jeff does with his b20 vtec. and he's using full time vtec.

I have heard of some rumors about ericks. like he launches at 8000 revs to 14000, between shifts the thing barely drops t0 8000. thats insane. but from what I hear its true.

you know me by now.

projekteg 06-27-2003 01:32 PM

Re:full time vtec kit?

ctr cams are by no means full vtec

I like pizza 06-27-2003 01:37 PM

Re:full time vtec kit?

no no no no... crower makes a cam for the b18b that has the same spec as the ctr's vtec lobe. if that makes it more clear. full time vtec basically.

Re:full time vtec kit?

DUDE WHAT ARE YOU THINKING........
Have done dyno tests where vtec is in around 4000 to 5000 an it was bad bad bad.Lost all that we where gaining for like 2k rpms till it regained.Like it says in the other post 2 cam profiles 1st one is for nice smooth idle an town driving second is for higher rpm an more agressive acceleration.Think about it can you get out an change cams at 60mph?This does it for you so leave it alone spend the money on something else that will make power.

HMT-Admin 06-27-2003 03:31 PM

Re:full time vtec kit?

FYI, Erick's Racing uses Toda Spec D cams (custom), which still uses Vtec engaugement at higher RPM, its not a fixed cam profile. Vtec set at lower points is pretty much pointless, we have done tests on dynos and showed a loss in power on the bottom end. Whats funny on single cam vtec's the loss what not nearly shown as bad. Probably something to do with the overlap from B-series Vtecs.

Vtec killers, and the vtec replacement cams, so its a fixed cam profile were all mainly designed for road racing.

Re:full time vtec kit?

I got the solution for you.. Hook the vtec wire to either an ignition source or a full throttle switch.. Then you will have vtec anytime you want it.

Re:full time vtec kit?

ok 1 question. is your car a full race all drag setup?

i think not .

THEN WHY THE HELL WOULD U WANNA RUN THAT! EVEN IF THEY DID RUN IT.

pizza quit posting bullshit and dumb ideas. go learn how vtec works before posting.
