Full boost at 2100rpms? WTF?
This is my setup
D16z6 100000kms bone stock
DX tranny
custom log manifold
T3 Turbocharger of a Mercedes 300sd diesel (I belive its a .42/.4
2.5" Downpipe
2.25" in/out cat
2.5" exhaust
2.5" charge pipes
Yonaka Intercooler
T bolt clamps and silicone hoses
DSM BOV
dsm450 and beerbongkickass MAP
I was hitting 10 psi at 2100rpms in 4th gear today. Temperature is about 10-15 degrees celsius. I am at sea level. Can anyone tell me why this turbo setup spools so incredibley fast? Its got me puzzled.

THe mercedes 300sd turbo doesn'T have your everyday T3 0.48 a/r turbine like the thunderbird, saab and 300zx ones.
THe mercedes turbine wheel has the same exducer size as the standard T3 but the Major diameter of that turbine wheel is the one from a stage 3 wheel.
The actual HOLE in the turbine housing being the same size, i doubt it really flows more because of that but the longer blades definitely makes it spool much faster. i am using the same turbine on a FOCUS ZETEC and it spools super fast too. Faster than a conventional T3.
i have been overboring ford/saab/nissan turbine housings to fit that mercedes wheel often. The results are always impressive.

oh yeah, it's a small 45 or 50 trim t3... upgrading the compressor to 60 trim is a most just like all other t3's but that mercedes turbine my friends, for less than 300HP, really rocks.

One thing I never get though when I hear threads like this.....Why would someone floor it at 2100rpm if you wanna go anywhere at all? I don't get why one just wouldn't downshift....
