fuel pump question

I have a 91 Laser RS N/T but i'm boosting it. I'm puttin the 450cc injectors, DSM bov, turbo ecu+wireharness, an im going 14b or 16g. I was jus wonderin if i need to change my fuel pump or can i keep the stock one????

Re: fuel pump question

In Honduhland, staying with the stock pump at stock pressures flows enough fuel for 300whp.

I have no idea about DSMs though. Have you tried dsm.org's vfaq?

Re: fuel pump question

That really depends on how much boost/hp you're planning on running. I know from personal experience with my turbo cars, 240hp was about the limit of the stock fuel pumps. These pumps are roughly about 155lph pumps. If you're planning on running higher boost pressures, I'd highly recommend getting the 190lph high pressure unit or the 255lph high pressure unit for the insane performance modifications. I've personally run the 255lph hp units in all of my modified turbo cars, just as a safe measure.

The only real way to know if you need a larger pump is to attach a fuel pressure gauge to your setup and if you see your pressure leveling out or falling at higher boost/rpms, then it's time for a new higher flow pump. If not, running lean on a turbo will create 4 really expensive ash trays.

Re: fuel pump question

i always say giviing yourself some added insurance is always better, better to buy a 100 dollar fuel pump, then a 800 dollar engine

I recommended it. We had Talon ES converted to turbo and never upgraded to fuel pump. We went through 7 motors in one sesson at atco. By the way, need a 4g63 cast turbo manifold?
