fuel injector questions

so I'm kind of at a standstill. With gas prices rising and sucking hard, and the fact that my project car is also my daily driver, I have a huge question. I plan on using a volvo turbo with a 7 psi wastegate setting, for just a little boost. There was a post saying that 450cc injectors are good for 8-10 psi, so I figured a little small. My question, is what size injectors should I take, and exactly how much do you think this'll hurt my gas mileage? I know i'm probably gonna get hassled, "if you're worried about gas mileage, don't turbo" or something, but I'm a 19 year old kid who wants some extra kick with a dad who lives 6 hours away who he likes to see, so theres my story.

help me out

Re: fuel injector questions

Run 7 psi, grab an FMU and stay out of boost most of the time.

Tell us more about your setup. You may not need to change the injectors that you have.

Re: fuel injector questions

Properly tuned, it MPG won't change if you run 400cc injectors or 600cc injectors.
The only difference it would make is if you need a peak of 200hp or 350hp. You'll eat more fuel at 350hp than you would at 200hp.

Around town, same power level, properly tuned, injector size makes no difference - you only squirt as much fuel as you need.

Improperly tuned, or just dropping injectors in without chaning your fuel map... well, yea.. it'll make a difference.

well I planned on running a 7psi volvo turbo, I have a probe smi, and as far as I know I needed 450cc injectors. I'm not sure what kind of ems i'm running because this is my first big deal and i'm making myself familiar with this stuff as I go. i have the stock d16a6 motor, and like I said just wanted some more kick.

I'm running 365cc's on my 4agte at 8psi on a T25, gets plently of fuel, so 450's should get you plenty o' gas I would say

Because its easy to hook up, and running ~5 psi or so, its nearly impossible to ---- up anything. The BEST choice is a chipped ecu and to get a good tune, but you seem like the type that would try to run a few too many lb's on a basemap :8

Re: fuel injector questions

lol are you saying that somehow if I pull the fmu and the 7psi turbo i'll find a way to ---- it up?

Fixed it for you. It's not a question, it is a statement of fact.

Well, you don't have a bad attitude. That counts for something, IMO.

Just don't plan on doing or buying anything for a month, and just READ this and other forums. Come up with a propose combo of parts and post it for approval. Expect to get your ass reamed for asking, this is HMT, but if you can come up with something halfway decent some of us will notice you've made an effort and learned something and kick you some help.

Now, get to work! :)
